The 2021 school year is rapidly coming to a close. The teachers are busy working on student reports. We put our timeline back, wanting to spend as much time making up for face to face teaching before completing some final assessments. Teachers have recently completed a reading benchmark assessments and we are quite pleased with our results, especially considering the disruption to learning this year. Reports will be completed in the next week and will come home in week 11.
We are also getting ready for our presentation days and have selected some lovely books for KC and Year 1. Year 2 will receive book vouchers. We are still waiting to hear more about the planned industrial action which will fall on the day we have planned for presentation day. If this is the case, we will just change the day for our presentations. I will let you know, once we know more.
Our Stage One students are looking forward to their dinner, disco and graduation. We shared some of our favourite songs on Monday afternoon, so I can pass on suggestions to my cousin DJ Hughes! Don't forget to RSVP and order a meal by Friday.
Our final week together will start with our party day, with Stage One going to Blackbutt for the morning and KC staying at school for a disco and water play. We have also organised a special surprise for KC for Tuesday afternoon. A note will come home in the next day or two.
Our new OOSH will start to move in too and will be taking up residence in Miss Eveleigh's current classroom. We have decided to make this a new OOSH space as it is closer to the current space. The school can also use it like a multi-purpose room outside of OOSH hours. We plan on moving the P&C uniform shop and snack canteen in there, to allow more space and to free up the library. It will also be a great wet weather space for assemblies. The administration building will house the office, library, staffroom, a stage 1 classroom and a fourth learning space that will be used for literacy and numeracy groups.
Tomorrow is our final Kindergarten orientation session and we are excited to be welcoming back our 20 new enrolments. The year 2 buddies have written beautiful letters and made videos - it makes me one proud principal!
So much to do in 2 weeks and 2 days ... but we will get there .. we always do!
