A reading from the holy Gospel according to John

Just before the Jewish Passover Jesus went up to Jerusalem, and in the Temple he found people selling cattle and sheep and pigeons, and the money changers sitting at their counters there. Making a whip out of some cord, he drove them all out of the Temple, cattle and sheep as well, scattered the money changers’ coins, knocked their tables over and said to the pigeon-sellers, ‘Take all this out of here and stop turning my Father’s house into a market.’ Then his disciples remembered the words of scripture: Zeal for your house will devour me. The Jews intervened and said, ‘What sign can you show us to justify what you have done?’ Jesus answered, ‘Destroy this sanctuary, and in three days I will raise it up.’ The Jews replied, ‘It has taken forty-six years to build this sanctuary: are you going to raise it up in three days?’ But he was speaking of the sanctuary that was his body, and when Jesus rose from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scripture and the words he had said.

During his stay in Jerusalem for the Passover many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he gave, but Jesus knew them all and did not trust himself to them; he never needed evidence about any man; he could tell what a man had in him.

Catholic Schools Week

Next week we celebrate Catholic Schools. Catholic Schools Week is a special time in the year when we celebrate and give thanks for Catholic Schools, especially our own school Our Lady of Lourdes.

It is a time to give thanks for the wonderful learning and teaching that takes place each day in every classroom.

This year’s theme is Celebrating 200 years of Catholic Education in Australia.

We give thanks for all those – past, present and future – who value and appreciate the gift that it is.

Students will participate in a Liturgy on Tuesday Morning to celebrate and give thanks for our  Catholci Schools, especially Our Lady in Lourdes Primary School.

Cross Country Trials 2021

The OLOL Cross Country Carnival is fast approaching. It will be held on Friday 12th March at Yattenden Oval. Children who are turning 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 years old this year are invited to participate.

8, 9, 10 year olds will run 2km.

11, 12 years olds will run 3km.

This is not a whole school event. This is a selection trial for our School Cross Country Squad to attend the Diocesan Carnival. The children who do not want to take part in the Cross Country Carnival will remain at school with their classroom teacher. The children who would like to compete will be taken down to the oval to complete their event and will then return back to school once the events have concluded.

Parents who wish to come must sit around the perimeter of the Cross Country course, away from the children and ensure they are social distancing. Events will commence with the 8 years olds at approx. 9.30am. Additionally, our Fun Run will be held later in the year.
