PRINCIPAL'S NEWS

Dear Parents and Carers

As we come to the end of the year at Rawlinson Primary School, (RPS) it is a good time to reflect on what we have achieved, and update you on some important changes that we are looking forward to in 2022.

Firstly, can I thank you all for your continued support for the school.  I have enjoyed meeting so many of you and the parents’ evening was extremely well-attended.  The P&C at RPS has continued to be an outstanding team that is fun to meet with and works extraordinarily hard to support the resourcing and curriculum needs at Rawlinson.  Sue Giles, from the P&C runs the Uniform Shop and has done an amazing job this year.

We have had to make a temporary move to another store room outside the undercover area for the start of 2022 and I really would like to thank Sue and all her helpers for making the move on the hottest day of this year.  Wendy Woodgate has continued to make her mark as the organiser of fund raising activities and Rebecca Cavanagh and Bernice Smith have led the team with some tough decisions that have been made with careful thought and calm execution.

We have been successful in applying for funding to have one of our classrooms renovated into a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) room.

Over the summer months, workers will be in and around this room next to the adventure playground, so access will be restricted till May, 2022. Miss Sui has been appointed as our Technology teacher and with her background in Science and a degree in Microbiology, we are extremely lucky to have her.

Mr Stoneman has been a valuable asset as we upgrade and improve our computers in the school.  We have spent over $50 000 this year on new IPads and keyboards so that the students at RPS have the latest technology and develop the skills that are going to be essential as they head into High School.

The Staff at Rawlinson have continued to shine as the hardest working group that I have had the pleasure to lead.  They are constantly working to improve their knowledge and skills by completing professional learning in their own time and have the best interests of every student at the front of mind.  You are all stars and I commend you for the work that you do.

And so, we come to the end of 2021.

Merry Christmas everyone.  I hope that you have a relaxing and fun break and we look forward to seeing you all next year.

Kind regards

Darryl Dedman

UNIFORM SHOP

Thanks to everyone who helped out with the uniform shop this year.  I am very grateful.

Next year the Uniform Shop will not have access to the store room we were in this year, due to works being done at the school until May.

As a result I have decided that other than the open days in January there will be no other open days until we are able to use our store room again.  The uniform shop will operate only via Qkr! or cash and paper order forms handed in at the office.  All orders will be delivered to your child's classroom, so be sure to update your child's classroom in Qkr! as soon as the classroom allocations are released.  The office will have our size range available to try should you need to work out the sizes before ordering.  I will advise everyone of any changes or openings here in the newsletter, on the Facebook page, and on our P&C notice board.

2022 Open Days

The back to school opens will be from 11.00am-2.00pm on Thursday 27th and Friday 28th of January.  I will need many volunteers for these times for setting up, packing up and serving.  Set up will be from 10.00am in the undercover area and pack up for up to an hour afterwards.  Please consider helping for any amount of time you can, as with few volunteers the wait times will be long.

Please email: rawlinson.uniforms@gmail.com if you can help.

Qkr!

Qkr! will be turned on on the 20th January for you to begin purchases. Qkr orders can be collected from the Qkr! pre order desk in the undercover area on the open days.  Please line up where the Qkr! sign is, and not for the sales desks.

I will be pre packing Qkr! orders on Tuesday 25th January so I would appreciate a volunteer or two then if that suits your time better.

Leavers Shirts

Leavers shirts are for year 6 students only, and are a nice way for them to commemorate their time at Rawlinson primary.  The forms for leavers shirts will be handed out to students in the first few days of school next year.  It will also be available for purchase on Qkr!  The leavers shirts are $35.00.

The blank shirts have been ordered and should arrive in term 2 after printing with all the students' names.

The leavers shirts are the same sizes as our normal uniform, but if you are unsure of the size to order you can try them on in the office.

Have a wonderful holiday and Christmas season and I'll see you in 2022!

Kind Regards

Sue Giles
