Dear Parents and Carers
As we come to the end of the year at Rawlinson Primary School, (RPS) it is a good time to reflect on what we have achieved, and update you on some important changes that we are looking forward to in 2022.
Firstly, can I thank you all for your continued support for the school. I have enjoyed meeting so many of you and the parents’ evening was extremely well-attended. The P&C at RPS has continued to be an outstanding team that is fun to meet with and works extraordinarily hard to support the resourcing and curriculum needs at Rawlinson. Sue Giles, from the P&C runs the Uniform Shop and has done an amazing job this year.
We have had to make a temporary move to another store room outside the undercover area for the start of 2022 and I really would like to thank Sue and all her helpers for making the move on the hottest day of this year. Wendy Woodgate has continued to make her mark as the organiser of fund raising activities and Rebecca Cavanagh and Bernice Smith have led the team with some tough decisions that have been made with careful thought and calm execution.
We have been successful in applying for funding to have one of our classrooms renovated into a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) room.
Over the summer months, workers will be in and around this room next to the adventure playground, so access will be restricted till May, 2022. Miss Sui has been appointed as our Technology teacher and with her background in Science and a degree in Microbiology, we are extremely lucky to have her.
Mr Stoneman has been a valuable asset as we upgrade and improve our computers in the school. We have spent over $50 000 this year on new IPads and keyboards so that the students at RPS have the latest technology and develop the skills that are going to be essential as they head into High School.
The Staff at Rawlinson have continued to shine as the hardest working group that I have had the pleasure to lead. They are constantly working to improve their knowledge and skills by completing professional learning in their own time and have the best interests of every student at the front of mind. You are all stars and I commend you for the work that you do.
And so, we come to the end of 2021.
Merry Christmas everyone. I hope that you have a relaxing and fun break and we look forward to seeing you all next year.
Kind regards
Darryl Dedman
