Week 2 Term 2 2021

From the Principal - Mrs Thompson

Dear parents,

What a great start to the term we have had. The weather has been delightful, although the mornings have been a bit chilly, and our staff and students have jumped straight back into wonderful learning in our classrooms.

Our school recognised ANZAC Day with a memorable service last week, led by our senior students. Thank you to Mrs Scott for her coordination, and to ex-student Tyler, who played the Last Post and Reveille. Thank you also to our P&C who organised the floral tributes. Our student leaders and senior Student Representative Council also attended the Penrith ANZAC Service held at the Paceway this week.

Over 40 students from our school participated in the district cross country carnival last Friday, with two students making it through to the regional competition. Congratulations to all our students who participated and to those who were successful at placing in their age race.

COVID Safety and School Operations

Don’t forget to scan the QR code when entering our school office – no matter for how brief your visit is! This is a requirement for all Department schools.

Very soon, we will be welcoming parents to our regular school assemblies. COVID restrictions, however, means that we will need to limit the number of visitors to our hall. There will be a limit of one visitor per child for the class that is presenting at the assembly only. This will limit our visitors to 32. Please keep an eye out for messages on SkoolBag to let you know when your child’s class is presenting.

All visitors to our assemblies are required to scan in using the QR code and to leave their details on the sign-on sheet, as per Department requirements.

Before and After School Care

Does your child need before and after school care? The department is undertaking an important survey to identify parent demand in our school for before and after school care.

Please complete the short survey below to help us understand your family’s needs for out of school hours care. The survey has only 4 questions and should take no more than two minutes to complete.

Please complete the survey via the following website link: https://surveys.education.nsw.gov.au/s3/OSHCParentsSurvey.

The survey will be open until 24th May 2021.

P&C Meeting

Our next P&C meeting will be held in the library on Tuesday 4th May from 7pm. We do hope you can join us!

Catch-up Photo Day

Our catch-up photo day will be held on Thursday this week, for any students who were absent on our photo day last term.

Have a wonderful week!

Canteen News

  • The canteen will be selling hot chocolate to students in the morning before school starting next week. They also have pizza muffins, cheese toasties and cheese and bacon rolls for sale as breakfast items before school.
  • Just a reminder that lunch orders can be made online or at the counter up to 9am each day. After this time no orders can be taken.
  • If students come to school without lunch, we will continue to provide the choice of a cheese sandwich or vegemite sandwich for them.
  • There are a number of outstanding bills for lunches that need to be paid. A reminder that the canteen is NOT run by the P&C but is a local business who we need to support.

Playground Equipment Grove area

We would like to officially thank the NSW Government for the community grant that provided the funds for our fantastic playground equipment in the grove area. This equipment will provide the children in our community the opportunity to climb and explore in a safe, child-centred environment.

We are sure that the new 2021 Kindergarten students will enjoy spending time utilising this great resource.

From the Office

Operoo (CareMonkey) profile updates

Can you take a few minutes to check that your child has a current and up to date health profile. We use the Operoo system to ensure that all students health issues are accessible to staff members in the case of an emergency.

Even if your child has no health issues, it helps us to make quick contact with you if needed.

If you need help with this, please contact the office for some assistance.

Absent Notes

It is a legal requirement for schools to keep accurate rolls. In order to do this we need to receive a note or phone call from parents for student absences, within three days of the absence starting stating the nature of the absence ie. sickness, family business, short leave. The Skoolbag app has an easy to use function that allows you to generate an online note we print off  to give to teachers.

School Hats

We have been informed by the supplier that Regentville PS school hats are not available for sale until late April. In the meantime, students could wear a blue or dark hat.
