Principal's Report

Dear parents & carers

We are almost reaching the end of term 1. May I take this opportunity to once gain thank the community for their understanding and support. Most mornings I am out near the front gate with one other senior executive team member and it is such a pleasure to welcome our students. The first few weeks were a bit of a challenge for some kindergarten students. I suppose it was for some of the mums and dads as well! However, as we draw to the end of the term, tears have dried up and are being replaced with smiles. The reason I wanted to acknowledge the community is for the support. Few weeks ago, the department gave permission for us to allow parents on school grounds. After discussion with staff, we decided that students were better off saying goodbye at the gate. With such large number of students, we found that students had more space and freedom play before start of school. More importantly, our younger students settled quickly into the classrooms because the goodbyes were already said at the gate.  Our community has been wonderful in accepting this and I cannot thank you all enough for this. This also brings me to add the good news about our Easter Hat Parade. Once again, we appreciate your support and understanding in managing the logistics of having over 700 students and staff and community members. Our aim is to ensure that our students have a wonderful day and are safe.

May I reiterate that all students are expected to be at school on time so they do not miss out on learning. Bringing your child to school a few minutes late may seem insignificant, however as adults we are setting expectations and behaviour patterns. Punctuality and organisational skills are very important and these need to be taught at a young age. Please support us in ensuring that your child has the best start to school by sending them to school on time and in full school uniform.
