Principal's Reflection

Friday 23rd July 2021 Edition 2, Volume 5

“The strongest trees are the slowest growing”  Julian Tenison Woods 1875

As I sat down to write my message to families this week, I could not help but reflect on Julian Tenison Woods' quote.  It has taken us time but we are growing together to build a strong Catholic School Community and I am viewing the strength of families and how you support your children.

At the end of every day, I sit still, just breathe and think of three things that I am grateful for from that day. There were so many things that I was grateful for this week. Staff stepping up and taking responsibility, showing love and initiative; students giving their utmost and problem solving, giving warm and cool feedback with respect and courage; and parents juggling many hats and taking on additional responsibility, when life is hard and pressured.

On another note, the Olympic Games begin today and  I am excited! The  motto "Faster, Higher, Stronger - Together"  describes how athletes need to strive in the world arena to reach for their best.  It may not always be a win. I wonder if you will have the chance to capture one of these Olympic moments ?

An Irish Blessing

Deep peace of the running wave to you.

Deep peace of the flowing air to you.

Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.

Deep peace of the shining stars to you.

Deep peace of the Son of Peace to you.

May you be filled with the Holy Spirit taking time to listen, work through challenges and persevere to the end.

Kind regards,

Shelley

REMOTE LEARNING

We appreciate the way in which families have managed and supported the school in the Lockdown Extension. Thank you for filling in the survey to allow us to manage staffing and delivery of learning to your children.

We are asking families to provide us with some feedback about the most recent experience of Remote Learning. A Google form has been created asking you to name challenges, successes and improvement, should we experience a continued Lockdown. This will be valuable data for us to improve our practice and ensure we are delivering the highest levels of learning to our students.

GETTY CHALLENGE: YEAR 1/2

Hi there!

Your children continually amaze us with the quality of work they are producing. They take on feedback and apply this to their work, seeking to improve what they are doing. They have been busy with their online learning and one of the tasks was to recreate a famous art piece using objects found at home. Please enjoy a sneak peak of their work and what lies ahead for our celebration of learning/art exhibition at the end of the term.

It was wonderful to see so many smiles and learning at last Thursday's excursion at the Animal Land Children's Farm in Diggers Rest. Students had the opportunity to have a tractor ride, play tug-of-war, participate in an egg and spoon race, churn and taste some freshly made butter, milk a cow, ride a pony, hold a guinea pig or rabbit or feed one of the many friendly farm animals. It was a jam packed and fun-filled day enjoyed by all.

Please click on the attached link to view more of the wonderful memories of the day.
