PRINCIPAL'S NEWS

Dear Parents and Carers

As you may have heard, the Rawlinson Primary School P&C have made a decision to transfer the management of the canteen to the school, and as a result of this, the canteen positions under the P&C will cease at the end of Term 4, 2021.   Jodie and Lisa have been long term members of our school community and we really appreciate their hard work over the last 16+ years.

Below are a few frequently asked questions that may assist you in understanding the situation:

Why has this been done?

The canteen has struggled financially for many years.  It has required a lot of time and effort by P&C members to manage canteen operations.  Unfortunately, it is not sustainable for the P&C members involved to continue managing the canteen.  P&C members, like all parents, have families, jobs and other commitments.  It was a difficult decision for the P&C, and by no means taken lightly.

Does this mean we won’t have a canteen in 2022?

We are absolutely committed to having a canteen at Rawlinson Primary School!  We are busy making plans to ensure we have a canteen operating next year.  Further details will be communicated as soon as they have been confirmed.

Will the food be the same?

The menus have not be confirmed, but we are sure the new canteen will have some of the existing regular favourites in addition to some new foods.

Will the new canteen be more expensive?

As the menus have not been confirmed, we cannot say.  However, the new canteen will need to consider many factors in deciding how to price their food, and what people are used to paying will definitely be one of them.

The P&C would like to invite any parents who have further questions or concerns to join them at the next P&C meeting on Wednesday 27th October at 7.30pm.   They are happy to set aside time at the beginning of the meeting for you to raise your concerns.

Parents, this was a difficult and very important decision, we absolutely want a canteen at Rawlinson Primary School however, it is not sustainable in its present structure. These changes will allow us to have a canteen into the future.

The P&C at Rawlinson Primary is second to none. They are supportive, active and work extremely hard for all the students in the school. If they make a decision to do something it is entirely in the interests of the whole school and everyone in it. Please support them in this endeavour.

Kind regards

Darryl Dedman
