Dear Parents and Carers
We are almost half way through Term 1 and in that short time we have had a very busy 5 weeks with our swimming carnival, rugby league trials, zone swimming, our first school assembly and our welcome breakfast.
All of our students have settled well into their new routines for 2021 and are working hard.
Thank you to our parents and carers who are helping keep our school community safe by remaining outside the school gates when dropping off and picking up students.
If you need to collect your child early or wish to speak with any staff please ring the school office prior to entering the school grounds to ensure our school is complying with DoE COVID guidelines.
Zone Swimming Carnival
I would like to congratulate Jacob for his great effort at Zone Swimming last week. Jacob represented Mt Kanwary with pride and great sportsmanship. Well done Jacob!!
Thank you to all the families that attended our Welcome Breakfast on Thursday 18 February. Everyone had a great time enjoying bacon and egg sandwiches, meeting teachers, staff and other parents.
Thank you to the Mr Shearman (our GA) for cooking a wonderful breakfast and Mrs Trappel, Mrs Vickers, Miss Kate and Mrs Jones for helping prepare and plan a great morning.
Our School Leaders did a great job conducting our first school assembly.
The Award recipients were:
Ezekiel - Principal's Award
Riley - Wattles Merit Certificate
Milly - Banksias Merit Certificate
Lloyd - Library Award
A reminder that all students need to wear a school hat each day. Students that do not have a hat will have to remain under the shelter.
No hat, No play!
At Mount Kanwary we have been running a breakfast club each morning for all students. This allows our students to have some toast with either butter, vegemite or jam when they arrive at school.
Just a reminder our school supervision times are 9am - 4pm.
Before school supervision begins at 9am, 30 minutes before school commences. If the weather is rainy or unsuitable students are brought into the classroom from 9am onwards.
We are still waiting for the updated 'bus zone' and 'kiss and drop' signage to arrive from council. The new signs will explain how the shared area will operate so please monitor the signs for any change.
The Council rules regarding a 'kiss and drop' Zone are:
- You can only stop for 2 minutes, and
- You must stay in the car or within 3 metres of your car.
Have a wonderful week!
