From the Leadership

Term 4 has been an exciting time of learning for us all. Looking back over the year we have had many successes that continue to make St Leonards the fabulous school that it is.

Celebration Night  was an outstanding success and we were excited to have our families back in the audience. Our learners were absolutely brilliant.  A big thank you to Nikki and Ian, once again you were awesome.

We wish a fond farewell to all our students and their families who are leaving our SLPS community at the end of 2021. We hope that you enjoyed your time with us. We will miss you all.

We would like wish our amazing community a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and look forward to seeing you all in 2022.

QKR! Information

Our school uses the QKR! app to help families conveniently make payments from anywhere. The app is a menu based app. You select the department you need eg Canteen, School Payments or OSHC and select the item you are paying for or ordering.

The app does not have a link to your school accounts, it is a system for making payments only. You can contact the Finance Office for up to date information on what you owe (or if you are in credit).

If you do not already use QKR! you can download the app through Google Play or the App Store and create a user account for our school.

Current QKR! users will get a notification during the holidays to update their child/ren's details eg new room number. We use this information so that orders and payments are applied on our system to the correct families.

If you have any questions regarding QKR! please give us a call or email.

Celebration Night

We were so excited that families were able to attend our 2021 Celebration Night. The children had a wonderful time performing the routines that they had learned throughout this term and staff entertained with their surprise performance.

Thank you to those who helped out with the BBQ and the refreshment stalls and thank you to Move & Groove for teaching the students their fantastic routines throughout Term 4.

2021 Chinese Language Awards and Media

On the evening of Friday 26 November, we had 3 lucky students attend the 2021 Chinese Language Awards Ceremony at Elder Hall. They had a fantastic evening filled with inspirational speakers and outstanding cultural performances. Congratulations to Maisy for winning an award for her enthusiasm in Chinese language studies and excellent Chinese language skills. Also, to Soyull and Ethan for being chosen to collect the school participation award. Last but not least, I would like to congratulate to all the students who participated in the video competition for winning the school participation award.

Chinatown Excursion

Last Wednesday 1st December our Year 6 and 7 went to Chinatown for excursion and had lunch at the Ding Hao restaurant. It was a great opportunity for the students to immerse themselves in Chinese culture, people and food.

From all accounts it was hugely successful, with all students participating in Chinatown amazing race to buy items from Asian grocery shops and to find different dishes from Chinese restaurant.

I would like to thank Nat, Jasmine, Stevo and Jenny for their work in ensuring the excursion was successful. A huge shout-out too, to the parents for volunteering to supervise students.

Recycling Program

This year our school participated in the Wonder Recycled Bags program. We recycled over 10kgs of bread bags, and as a reward got these new balls for the school. How great that we got to save all that soft plastic from going into landfill (which will be recycled) and got some new sports equipment.

Bottle Cap Murals

This semester some of the Year 5's built bottle cap murals, while the other Year 5's were in choir. We made a process of designing the art, drawing up the design on the wood platform, and then putting the bottle caps on the wood. We counted the bottle tops, took them off, then painted the background that colour so we didn't see any brown spaces in between. We then stuck the different coloured bottle tops on. We are going to screw the tops on so they don't come loose when they are hung up around the school. These are the final designs, we think they turned up well.
