Chisholm Need to Know

CAROLINE CHISHOLM COLLEGE

Week 10 information
As we approach the end of the most extraordinary term in the history of the College, I want to thank parents, students and staff for their commitment, tenacity and support of our learning program during lockdown.

To acknowledge this, September 17 will be another Flexi-Friday of wellbeing and spiritual activities for all students 7 to 11. Information will be circulated next week about the range of activities in which our students can engage.

Now that vaccinations are available to younger people, please check if your daughter is eligible and arrange for her to be vaccinated to support a return to face-to-face learning in Term 4. The school holidays are a perfect time to make this happen.

Thank you,

Dr Greg Elliott
Principal

Invitation
All parents and friends of the college are warmly invited to attend this special event to pray for and send off our Year 12 graduates. The ceremony will be live streamed and available on Zoom via this link:

Please come along and use the chat function to wish our girls well as they face the challenges of a COVID HSC and celebrate six wonderful years of learning and friendship. If you are posting messages to social media, please use the hashtag #cccclassof21

All students in years 7 to 11 are expected to attend the Year 12 Farewell event via Zoom in Period 2 on Friday (their only commitment on Flexi-Friday).

Year 12 Reports
Year 12 Reports will be uploaded to Compass during the holiday period. A skoolbag message will be sent when the reports are available. A printed copy of the Reports will be mailed in the first week of next term.

Year 11 Examination Block and resumption of classes
The Year 11 Examination Block concludes on Monday 13 September. Timetabled classes via Zoom resume on Tuesday 14 September.

Year 7 and 9 NAPLAN results
Students in Years 7 and 9 sat the NAPLAN assessments earlier this year. The school has recently received a hard copy of each student’s results in these assessments and these will be mailed to parents and carers over the next week. The documentation includes a comprehensive explanation of the results. Parents are encouraged to visit the National Assessment Program website for further information. This can be found at https://nap.edu.au/home Please contact the College if you would like further information.

Changes of Afternoon School Bus Routes in Mulgoa, Warragamba, Wallacia, Luddenham and Silverdale Areas
We have recently received information from Busways about some significant changes to a number of afternoon school bus routes from Caroline Chisholm College. They mainly affect afternoon routes servicing the Mulgoa, Warragamba, Wallacia, Luddenham and Silverdale areas.

Busways advises that it “intends to implement these changes from Tuesday 5th October 2021 – though the actual start date for these amended services is dependent on the school bus services returning to normal (i.e., post the end of remote learning).  This is a date yet to be advised by the NSW Government. We are sending this to you now so that students and parents can be prepared for this change – the actual date of which will be advised to you once the NSW Government provides this information to the community. This is an unusual situation, and we appreciate that this may be confusing.  Therefore, if you have any questions, please contact Busways Customer Service on 1300 69 2929. Alternatively, visit our website at www.busways.com.au

The changes affect Routes 4514, 4534, 4549, 4563, 4573 and 4592.

Some changes are fairly minor, such as for Routes 4514 and 4592, which have some minor time changes to accommodate some of the major changes. However, many of the changes are major, including replacing some routes with new routes.

If your daughter catches 4534, 4549, 4563 or 4573 please carefully read the linked PDFs from Busways which explain the changes in some detail. The full Caroline Chisholm bus timetable from October 5 (or when school resumes) is available on the Busways website under the school routes section. Normally, this information would also be passed on in paper form to students on buses. As this can’t be done, we are trying to draw your attention to it this way.

If you have any questions about this information, please contact Busways, not the college.

Mr Greg King
Assistant Principal
