Message from Mrs Ellis

School Leaders

This week, the 2021 School leadership team was elected and I am pleased to announce that Tatum and Baxter were elected as School Captains and Samantha and Caitlin were elected as School Vice Captains. Congratulations to all Year 5 students who had the courage to present a short speech to the school seeking election as a School Leader in 2021.

As the 2020 school year comes to an end I would like to publically thank and acknowledge the 2020 School leaders for their hard work and effort in leading our school in a very different year. I wish Jude, Sacha, Mia and Harmony success and happiness in the future.

School Presentation Day

The 2020 School Presentation Day will be taking place on Wednesday 9th December starting at 9:30am We will be recording and livestreaming this event for all parents. A link for the event will be published on SkoolBag and the school Facebook page on Tuesday 8th December. Student award winners will have a morning tea with Mrs Ellis after the presentation day assembly.

Year 6 Farewell

Mrs Ellwood has been busy organising the Year 6 Farewell for Thursday 10th December in the school hall. There is more detailed information attached in this newsletter but if parents have any queries about the night please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Ellwood.

Fathering Project

Have you heard that Blaxland Public School will be establishing a Dad’s group in 2021?

Ryan a parent in our school will be the Dad’s coordinator and we are very excited to start this project in 2021. We are aiming for our first Dad’s Pizza event on Wednesday 10th March from 7:00pm-8:30pm. All interested Dads can sign up to the Blaxland Public School Dad’s group by clicking on the link below.

4/5P Writing Legends

Students in 4/5P took part in Writing Legends Storyathon Challenge this term. They were challenged to write a story that was exactly 100 words. These micro- narratives encourage students to tighten their language, experiment with words and focus their message. Congratulations to Amelie, Thomas and Lachlan for being selected as finalists.

Term 4 Celebrations

As we head towards the end of the year, students in Years 3-6 will have a celebration day at Blue Gum Lodge on Tuesday 15th December and K-2 students will have a fun day at school. 

There will be a short final newsletter published on Wednesday 16th December.

The Front Office and Uniform Shop

The Front Office

The Front Office will be closed on the two Staff Development Days this Term on the 17 and 18 December and over the School Holidays. The School Office will reopen next year on the second Staff Development Day the 28 of January 2021. 

The Uniform Shop

The Uniform Shop will be closed on the 17 and 18 December and over the school holidays. It will reopen next year on on Thursday the 28 January 2021.

Tuesday the 15 December is the last day to purchase uniforms with cash. 

Wednesday the 16 December is the last Day to purchase uniforms for 2020. Only Eftpos and Parent Online Payment (POP) will be except on this day, no cash will be taken.


Kindergarten Enrolments 2021

We are still taking Kindergarten enrolments for next year. You can find information about enroling your child, enrolment forms and any other documents that are required from the school website.

Kindergarten 2021

The first day for Kindergarten students next year is the 3 February 2021. 

Our School Website now has a Kindergarten 2021 Page with some useful information and resources for parents and our Kindy 2021 students to read and use.

Returning the Enrolment Application

Enrolment applications can be sent by email to the school's email address or dropped into the office, however social distancing rules still apply and we are asking that only one person be in the office foyer at a time. Please contact the office prior to dropping off the forms.  If returning an enrolment form during the holidays please email it and the attached documents to the school.

Term 4 Celebrations

Year 6 Farewell

It’s that exciting time of year again when we celebrate with the Year 6’s their learning journey at Blaxland Public School. We are holding the farewell in the hall on Thursday, December 10th and there will be dinner and dancing, a video and a short presentation. Parents are kindly asked to drop their children off at the gate at 6pm and be there to collect them again at 8pm. Students are to dress in suitable smart casual attire and we will ensure plenty of photos are taken throughout the night. Looking forward to a wonderful evening with our seniors!

Blue Gum Lodge, Years 3-6

Primary students’ party day is at Blue Gum Lodge in Springwood on Tuesday, December 15th. Students need to wear sensible mufti (shoulders covered, no sandals) including a hat. They should bring a drink bottle, recess and lunch, swimmers, rash shirt, towel and sunscreen. Parents please note: a signed permission note for travelling on the bus, participating in the swimming activity and taking part in this excursion is required prior to the day. Please ensure staff is notified of any medications required by your child at the camp.

K-2 Party Day

On the same day that the Primary are off to Blue Gum, K-2 children will have their party day here at school. They are to wear sensible sun-safe mufti and bring their crunch ‘n sip, recess, lunch and drink bottles as usual. Hats are a must. For the water play activities children are asked to have swimmers, rashie and a towel in a separate bag to change into and out of. There is no cost to this Celebration Day.

P&C News

The P&C would like to invite everyone to celebrate surviving this crazy year with dinner at the Lapstone Hotel from 7pm on Tuesday 8 December.  All welcome!
