St Mary's Bulletin

Term 2 - Week 9 (18th June, 2021)

Dear St Mary's School Community

Value in Focus: Forgiveness

We accept apologies and give others the opportunity to do the right thing and to have another chance.

Children’s Liturgy

Children’s Liturgy will be held this weekend at the 10.30am Mass on Sunday.  Mrs O'Malley will be leading this.   All are welcome to attend.

Reports

I have had the pleasure of reading Semester One reports this week.  While the academic achievement of the students is impressive, it is the comments by teachers that highlight the effort, work ethic and personal qualities of each child that are most remarkable.  I am certain that there will be some very proud parents when reports go home on Monday, 28 June.  Kindy portfolios will go home on Wednesday, 30 June.

School Photos

School Photos are scheduled for next Thursday, 24 June.  Students (Year One to Year Six) are asked to wear their full winter academic uniform (tights for girls and long pants for boys).  Kindy and Pre-primary are to wear the full sports uniform (jacket and long pants).  For next week only, students will swap their Phys-Ed Day (Thursday) with Health (Monday); therefore, students are asked to wear their sports uniform on Monday, 21st June and not on Thursday, 24th June, when they will wear their full academic uniform for school photos.

Interschool Cross Country

Congratulations to those students who represented St Mary's at the Interschool Cross Country at Bruce Rock today.  As always, the students represented our school with pride, exhibiting the school values of sportsmanship, respect and leadership.  They were cheered on by a great contingent of parents, friends and other family members.  Thank you to Mrs McDonald for driving the bus and assisting at the Cross Country and of course a big thank you goes to Mrs Criddle for coordinating St Mary's participation.  All results will be in next week's Newsletter.

Parent Helpers: Reading

We are seeking expressions of interest from parents who would like to help teachers with listening to children read before school.  If this is something that you would like to help with please email through your interest to Mrs Riethmuller at pauline.riethmuller@cewa.edu.au by Wednesday, 30 June.  Volunteers will be required to complete a short induction presentation prior to going on roster.

Skoolbag App

Resolved: periodic logout issue. As part of their upgrades, Skoolbag have increased the amount of time your user account will remain signed in to the app, resulting in you having to re-log in less often than before. We encourage you to keep your SkoolBag app updated to the latest version in the Apple or Google app stores to take advantage of these updates. Skoolbag will remind you within the app when there’s a new version available.

Staff News

Mrs Judy Jefferys will be on leave for the remainder of the term as she 'wanders out yonder' with her husband.  Mrs Rachel Smith (Monday and Friday) and Mrs Jean Crook (Tuesday to Thursday) will be relieving in Year One.  We wish Mrs Jefferys safe travels and look forward to seeing her back for the start of Term Three.

St Mary's School Fair

We are in a Fair year this year.  All families are asked to save the date:  16 October 2021 (which is the first weekend for Term Four) and consider how they might be able to support this great event which promotes our school and the wonderful spirit that is found within our community.  Thank you in advance to Asha Carr who has once again offered to coordinate the fair.

Let Us Pray

Lord God,

When we cry to you for help,

you are always ready to respond.

Fill us with the awe of your goodness.

Amen.
