Principal's Report

Staff News

Next term we will be welcoming some new members of staff to the WPS team:

Mrs Grant will commence her maternity leave from the start of Term 3 and we welcome Mrs Robina Wood as the teacher of 2G and Assistant Principal for Stage 1.  Mrs Wood is an experienced teacher and leader and we are looking forward to having her with us at Woolooware.

Miss Foley will be finishing with us on Friday as she heads off to Caringbah Public School to work in the support unit.  We are very fortunate to have Mrs Agi Towers taking up the role of class teacher for 4F.  Mrs Towers is another very experienced teacher and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the team.

Mrs Larkin will be further expanding our very successful MacqLit program for literacy support next term, which means she will no longer be on 4SL each Monday.  Instead, we have Mrs Lynnette Pinkerton joining the Stage 2 team. Mrs Pinkerton is another highly experienced and enthusiastic teacher who will complement our existing Stage 2 teachers.  For Term 3, Mrs Pinkerton will be working with 4SL on Mondays, 3T on Wednesdays (as Mr Holdcroft runs the By the Sea enrichment program) and 4F on Fridays.

We fondly farewell Mrs Grant and Miss Foley and warmly welcome Mrs Wood, Mrs Towers and Mrs Pinkerton.

In the Spotlight Dance Festival

What a wonderful showcase of Woolooware Talent!  Last week three of our dance groups participated in this festival and each one represented our school proudly.  I was so impressed with how well each of our groups performed and we are all so grateful to Miss Bo, Mrs Vinen and our supporting teachers for giving our students the opportunity to perform.

WPS at In the Spotlight Dance Festival

Today you will receive your child/ren’s Semester 1 report.  This is a snapshot of your child’s learning at this point in time as well as an opportunity to look at goals for the remainder of the year.  We encourage you to look at these with your child and talk about their learning goals for the remainder of the year.

Education Week – Save the Date!

Next term we will be celebrating Education Week with the theme ‘Lifelong Learners’ in Week 3. We have planned an Open Day for Thursday 29 July commencing at 12.30pm.  There will be more information sent out on this early next term, but pop the date in your diary now.

2022 Enrolments

It seems a long way off, but we are now at the point where we are starting to plan for next year.  Please get in touch with us if you have a child starting school in 2022 and you are considering enrolling at Woolooware.  It helps us if we can have all ‘local’ (within the WPS catchment area) enrolments completed by the end of this term so we can assess whether or not we will be able to offer any positions to non-local applicants.

Have a Happy and Safe Holiday

We wish all Woolooware families a well-earned break these school holidays and thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in your child’s educational journey.  The staff will return to school for a development day (pupil-free) on Monday 12 July and we look forward to welcoming all of our students back on Tuesday 13 July 2021,  ready for another exiting term of learning.

New Ethics Teachers Required

To the WPS Community,

We are currently seeking 3x additional Ethics teachers to join the existing team of 5x at WPS. The continued growth of the Ethics program, with nearly 50% of the current Early stage children participating each week, means that we need to train more enthusiastic volunteers this year.

Having taught this program for 5 years, it is an incredibly rewarding way to spend an hour per week. The kids love the content and the training process is online and simple to follow.
