The Brush Telegraph

Week 7 – Term 4 2020

Message From The Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Absences

At Wingham Brush Public School we are committed to your child achieving their full potential. For this to occur it is important that your child attends school regularly. Research strongly identifies that regular absences, lateness, and leaving early has significant impact on student learning and performance.

When a student is absent, a note explaining the absence is required.

There are several ways to respond to an absence;

·         Phone the school on the day of the absence to explain

·         Respond to the SMS that is sent out to parents on the day of the absence

·         Send in a written explanation when the child returns to school.

Year 6 Farewell

With all the ups and downs, restrictions and anxiety of this year it is exciting that we are able to give our Year 6 students a quality send off. The Year 6 Farewell will be held in the school hall, elegantly decked out. The students will be having a sit-down meal and the normal run of speeches and cake will occur. This will be followed by dancing.

Unfortunately the parents will not be able to join us, but the events of the night will be recorded and available on our Facebook page and website. Students will be escorted to the hall by 2 family members only. We will have a decorated space for photo opportunities and parents will be able to look into our transformed hall. We ask that parents then leave promptly so all families have the same opportunity and we are abiding by the guidelines. Students will be brought out to the grassed area in the centre of the school for collection after the event. Thank you to the P&C for generously paying for the Year 6 dinner. We are looking forward to a fabulous night.

Presentation

Our presentation day will be held on Friday 11 December at 9:30am. The school is unable to accommodate any guests or parents. The students will all be in chairs and the entire presentation will be recorded, edited and uploaded to the Facebook page and school website. I am very appreciative of the communities understanding regarding the restrictions and difficult decisions we have had to make around presentation day.

End of Year Production

As we are unable to have a musical performance at the MEC (Manning Entertainment Centre) this year we have decided to produce a montage of items from all the classes and across the school. The entire production will be supplied on individual USB. We will be sending home order forms by the end of the week. The cost will be $10 per USB. The students have been working very hard and are quite excited to share their production with you all.

BOOK CLUB ISSUE 8

BOOK CLUB ORDERS DUE

Orders for Issue 8 are due by Monday November 30. The book club order form and payment needs to be returned to the library to Mrs O’Bryan (on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday). Payment can be made in cash, credit card or cheque (made out to Scholastic Australia Pty Ltd and not the school). Parents who wish to make use of online ordering (LOOP) also need to have their orders submitted by Monday November 30, to ensure their order is submitted with the school order. This is an excellent opportunity for Christmas stocking fillers.

4/5D Happenings

4/5D are very grateful that they now have six laptops in the classroom to use regularly. They have been working hard in pairs, researching two different countries as part of their geography lessons. Once they are experts on their countries they will write a script for a reality TV show, where two families from different countries swap their homes! We have also been getting messy with chalk pastels again, working collaboratively as a stage 3 team to produce artwork to celebrate NAIDOC Week.

5/6B Happenings

After a busy year, we are coming to an end of our 2020 journey in 5/6B. We’ve been working hard all year and will have memories that will never be forgotten as you can see in some of the photos. All the students are winding up, getting ready for the new adventures coming next year. Recently, we have been enjoying creating our video for the end of year item. It has been full of fun, laughter and….. Silence! You won’t want to miss it!
