MASSED CHOIR FESTIVAL

Last Friday, I attended the first workshop for choral conductors participating in the Massed Choir Festival.  It was a brilliant, fast paced, high energy day filled with precision singing and body percussion.  I am really looking forward to this Festival with the Rawlinson Choir!

I strongly encourage all our instrumental students as well as all children in Years 4-6 to be part of the Choir for this amazing Festival.  We will be singing a range of excellent songs at the Perth Concert Hall in Term 3!

There are opportunities to audition for solo parts and compere parts, which I will prepare you for if you are interested - but you must be part of the Choir.

Come to our rehearsal on Thursday at 8.00am in the Music Room.  EARLY IS ON-TIME, ON-TIME IS LATE!

HEALTH TIPS

SLEEP

School-aged children need 10 -11 hours sleep a night.  Getting a good night’s sleep will help your child to be more settled, happy and ready for school, and will strengthen his/her immune system.  Here are some sleep tips:

·         Have a bedtime routine – this will help your child wind down from the day.

·         Keep the bedroom dark, cool and quiet - this will help your child drift off easily.

·         If anxieties or worries are keeping your child from relaxing, acknowledge the feelings and deal with it straight away or plan to sort the issue out in the morning after a good night’s sleep.

Remember, medication is not the answer to children’s sleep problems.

Contact your local Community Health Nurse, or go to http://raisingchildren.net.au for more information.
