From the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

This Friday marks the end of remote learning for our whole school community. For the first time since 21st August our whole student community will be together again.  We are now looking forward to the day that we can welcome our parents back into classrooms and assemblies.

As we come back together I would like to thank and acknowledge all of our parents and carers who have worked alongside our teachers to provide for our children.  I'd also like to acknowledge the Learning Support Officers who were present onsite each day to supervise the onsite groups.  They did an amazing job to support the supervising teachers.

Our teachers are very excited to have the children onsite consistently.

Kind regards,

Olga Lyons, Principal

Winning Entry - Maeve Murphy

Miss Lee suggested that our class look online for inspiration on the topic of saving water.  I saw lots of pictures of the earth, water, plants, taps, messages of what we are doing wrong along with suggestions on how we could fix the problem of water wastage.

I took all of that inspiration and drew a digital drawing of the world with a tap on the side, plants at the top, a message saying “save water before it’s too late” and hands holding the earth made out of water. I would have never thought that it would come second in my age group!

Maeve Murphy

Congratulations Maeve, we look forward to hearing how your entry goes in the National Competition.   Good Luck!

MAV Mathematics Talent Quest Awards

Congratulations to our students Jorja Lowe (High Distinction) and Lena Watty (Distinction) who were honoured at the MAV Awards held virtually today.  Well done Girls.

Jorja was also chosen as the overall winner of the LaTrobe University Young Women in Mathematics winner for her investigation into "What characteristics do the 5 most popular influencers on the 4 main social media have. How do they compare?

Thank you to Ms Kenna for supporting our students in their mathematical investigations and their entries.

School Advisory Council AGM

Our 2021 School Advisory Council Annual General Meeting is scheduled for  Tuesday November 9th at 7:30pm.

Mandatory Vaccination in Schools

The Victorian Chief Health Officer has advised that vaccination will be required for everyone working in schools to protect children, employees, and our communities from the spread of COVID-19.

All workers in Victorian schools will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID -19 unless a medical exception applies. This is an important measure to ensure our schools and early childhood centres remain safe and are not sources of community transmission.

Who do the vaccination directions apply to?

The vaccination directions include:

i. any person who is employed by an education operator to work in an education facility (including teachers, early childhood educators and educational support staff);

ii. a person contracted to work at an education facility and who will or may be in close proximity to children, students or staff, whether or not engaged by the education operator including casual relief teachers,  IT personnel, NDIS providers and auditors, but does not include delivery personnel);

iii. staff of the Education Department and Training who attend an education facility (such as allied health personnel or Authorised Officers and School Nurse program employees);

iv. staff of any other entity who attends an education facility (including employees of Catholic Education Ballarat);

v. volunteers that attend an education facility and that work in close proximity to children, students or staff (including parent helpers Parents & Friends and SAC members) and contractors.

We respectfully ask that all volunteers, contractors and committee members be prepared to provide evidence of their vaccination status prior to entering the school.

Student Drop off and Pick Up

St Patrick's is asking parents to remain in their cars during the drop off and pick up of your children at school and to not congregate with other parents outside the school. With the outbreak of COVID in Warrnambool we feel that it is important to minimise contact with people outside of your family. We look forward to when we can all gather again without restrictions.
