Letter from the Principal

Tuesday May 4th 2021

Dear Families

This week we honour all our Mums, Grandmothers and special women in our community. I thought I’d go to the experts on Mothers (your children!) to find out what they believe makes their Mum so special. This is what some children in 1/2S had to say:

Max: I love my Mum because she’s a great cook.

Annaliese: My Mum is lovely, kind and helpful.

Sarah: My Mum is loving and caring.

Isaac: My Mum makes good pizzas and I like it when I get to cook with her.

Harvey: My Mum takes care of me.

Flynn: My Mum is kind and she really loves me.

Charlie: My Mum is funny and she’s kind.

Elliot: My Mum loves me.

School Review

Our School Review has been a very positive and affirming process for our school. Gaynor (the external school reviewer) has identified us as a high performing school with a clear vision, excellent learning and teaching processes and an inclusive community that works in collaboration with each other for our children. The reviewer will write a final report with commendations and recommendations. This report will form the basis of our school improvement plan. The school improvement plan will identify the strategic directions of the school for the next 4 years. Once this document is finalised I will share our goals with the school community. I am very grateful to the parents, grandparents, students and staff who met with Gaynor to share what they believe are our strengths and areas for improvement. Their input has been invaluable.

Thanks to the following parents and grandparents:

Alan Ong, Graham Crichton, Shami Aponso, Mary Clark, Priya Hall and Katie Semenow.

Thanks also to our students:

Kahsha, Daniel, Mia-Rose, Heath, Lorelei, Cooper, Matilda, Joseph, Gabi & Dallas

School Photos

Our school photos will take place tomorrow Wednesday 5th May. All children will need to be in their winter uniform for the photos. There will be class photos, individual photos and family photos taken on the day.

Mother's Day

We are looking forward to welcoming our Mums, Grandmas and special women in our community on Thursday 6th May at 2.00pm in the school hall. This will be an afternoon of celebration honouring the women in our community. After sharing coffee and cake you will be invited into our classrooms to see your children at work.

First Eucharist Family Night

All families of children making their First Eucharist this year are invited to a family faith formation evening on Thursday 6th May at 7.00pm in the school hall. This is an important evening as we prepare the children for this sacrament. Details of booking your Mass of choice will be available on the night.

Champion of our School

Well done to Sienna and her Dad Giulio who participated in a memory walk last Sunday to help raise money to beat dementia.  All funds raised support the work of Dementia Australia to provide vital support services for people living with dementia, their families and carers. These services include counselling, support groups, education and training.

Sienna and Giulio together raised $917.

Congratulations Sienna on your wonderful efforts, you are making a real difference to some of the most vulnerable people in our community.

We feel very proud of you. A true social justice leader at work!
