Farewell

As we come to the end of the term, we farewell some special members of our school community.

Ms Anne Buttigieg - thank you for all your work with the Year 3 students and families this year. We wish you all the best of luck in the future with your Veterinary Nursing studies and we will see you again soon as a valued casual teacher at St Anthony's.

Girraween Activity Centre - we sadly farewell Sharon, Virginia and all the staff of GAC as they finish their time at St Anthony's as our out of school care providers. We have been blessed with the care you have shown to our student and families and the fun and education you have provided children over the last 30 years. May God bless you in all your future endeavours, we wish you every happiness and success. You will be missed!

Learning in Religious Education

In Religious Education this term, Year 2 have been inquiring about how we show love to our neighbours, and Year 5 about how we can bring hope and joy. On Tuesday, they made nearly 180 snack packs, which will be handed out by St Vincent de Paul Society volunteers through their Vinnies Van Night Patrol service. Thank you to our Year 2 and 5 parents who supported their children with donations to help them put their faith in action.

This afternoon, Mr Barden delivered the snack packs Year 2 and Year 5 made to the St Vincent de Paul Society's Greystanes Centre, just as the Vinnies Van was being prepared for tonight's Night Patrol.  The staff were very appreciative of our generous donation, which will be distributed to the approximately 250 people who seek the support of the Vinnies Van each month.  Students in many of our local Catholic high schools also support the Vinnies Van by volunteering to work on the Night Patrol once a month.

Year 1 have been inquiring in response to the driving question What is prayer?  They have recently reflected on their learning, recording what they have learnt about what prayer is and how we pray.  The Year 1 teachers were impressed with just how much the students have learnt.  Here are just a few of the many great responses from Year 1.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

Over the past two months, students from our school participated in the parish program of preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  Last week, this came to its culmination as they participated in the liturgical celebration.  Please pray for Luke, Bently, Aoife, Rhianna, Neola, Frederick, Jonah, Luke, Jerico, Mila, Hayden, Rahul, Amelia, Shawn, Rithwik, Nicole, Ethan and Sienna as they continue their journey of faith.

Preparation for First Holy Communion

The process of preparation to celebrate First Communion at St Anthony's Parish will begin early next term. Parents of Catholic children in Years 4, 5 and 6, who have celebrated First Reconciliation, and who believe their child is ready to celebrate First Communion, are invited to attend a parent information meeting. This meeting will be on Thursday 22 July at the church. Full details are provided in the attached letter.

ACARA Data Collection

The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) collects data from schools to determine the Index of Community Socio-educational Advantage (ICSEA). CEDP is currently working to provide relevant details to the Catholic Education Commission of NSW. Data collected is de-identified of personal information​​. 

Parents and caregivers must advise their school by Wednesday 14 July 2021 if they do not want their child's data included in this report.

Athletics Carnival

Our Annual Athletics Carnival was held last Monday at C.V Kelly Park. Due to the unpredictable weather, we had to modify the carnival by only running the track events. Our students were involved in 800m, 200m and 100m running events. 

Well done to all our athletes and a big thanks to our amazing parent volunteers. Without your help the Athletics Carnival would not have been so successful. 

Our overall colour house points trophy and age champions will be announced next term. 

Congratulations to all students and thank you to all teachers and parents for a wonderful day!

Hi there, Mini Vinnies have decided to make a difference by participating in the winter sleep out at our school. We are taking part in this event to raise much needed funds to support the Vinnies Winter Appeal. Please help us reach our team's fundraising goal of $2,000 to help the homeless services and raise awareness about this important issue.  We need your help with a donation, big or small.   All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you will be issued with a receipt via email as soon as you make a donation. 

Help do even more by 'liking', leaving a 'comment' and 'sharing' our page too.  Every little bit helps to reach our target of $2,000.
