Panania North Public School

Newsletter 11 - 30th July 2021

Important message

This week our school has seen an increase in students attending school and we have attendance levels that are significantly above other schools in Sydney.

I want to remind all our families that there is minimal supervision on site at our school for those students who cannot be educated at home, for example if their parent or carer is an essential worker. All students and families will be supported with learning from home materials and resources.

If you are working from home, and your child is able to be educated from home, please keep them at home.

I want to thank all the families who have continued to support our community by keeping their children at home to minimise movement in the community. Get in touch with your teacher to discuss any additional needs for your child or family to support you to continue learning from home.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Samantha Loveridge

Principal

Happy 100 days of learning to our Kindergarten students for last Friday 23rd July. Even though we didn’t get to celebrate together we had a lot of fun with our online activities. Here are some photos to brighten up your day.

Kindergarten

Just a reminder that Kindergarten students have a Zoom meeting every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9.30am for Aprox 30min. Please ensure you are online and ready for this meeting on time.

Stage 1

This week Stage 1 has been completing a whole range of activities from home.

Our students have been very creative using materials they already have to make musical instruments, conduct experiments, complete addition and subtraction problems, record their learning and conduct their gymnastics lessons.

We are so proud of all their effort to ensure they stay up to date with their learning.

We know it has been a combined family effort.

Congratulations Stage 1 students and parents!

In the picture below we see some of the students and their work. Anders shows us his descriptive writing about The Gruffalo. Damien shows us how he is using blocks to measure the volume of these containers. Harrison shows how many blocks fit into his containers and Joseph playing his TENS game. I wonder who won?

Keep up the good work guys!

Check out Stage 1 and their great work!

Stage 2

Stage 2 teachers are so proud of all our students who have been attending and completing the task assigned to the through Google Classroom and Zoom sessions. We are extremely happy with the quality of work they are producing and the interaction we are having with them on our live teaching sessions. We can only imagine how hard it would be to not have their teachers in front of them, but we are so grateful to have a bunch of adaptive students who are constantly challenging themselves. They have brought a bit of fresh air to us teachers this week with majority of the cohort attending our live teaching sessions and asking a lot of questions when asked. We are missing our students a lot and it’s been great to see there smiling faces every day this week! We just want to give a shoutout to all the Stage 2 students for consistently trying their best during these tough times! Hopefully we can see you all face to face very soon. In the meantime, keep up the good work because us teachers are really proud of every one of you! Here is some amazing work we would love to share with you:

Stage 2

Stage 3

Stage 3 has been working well demonstrating persistence in their learning whilst facing the challenges of learning with a positive attitude.

It’s been great to see the passion and interests coming out in students' work. Many have taken the opportunity to display their work in creative  and engaging ways, while constantly improving their online skills. Students have gained a worldly perspective and shown empathy in understanding the struggles children around the world have and the importance of supporting aid agencies.

We have learnt a great deal about bush fires through our literacy program and have used our creativity in learning how to draw flames in various ways.

We are lucky that the Olympics are going ahead and have incorporated some fun activities into our learning.  It’s great seeing the different sports the students are interested in and athletes that they aspire to be like, not just in ability but in determination and a never give up attitude.

We have been staying active with daily activities to ensure we have a chance to up and about as much as we can. We are all missing the social interaction with our friends at school but students are making the most of Zoom calls. We all can’t wait until we’re back together again.

Check out these happy snaps of Stage 3 and their awesome work!
