Sutton Public School

Week 7 Term 4 - 27th November

From the Principal

The joy of a school excursion

Great school excursions take planning and effort but the rewards can be huge for both students and teachers and something students will remember for a long time.  In 2020, COVID - 19 has meant that our students have missed many opportunities to enjoy the benefits of sharing new learning experiences in new environments - perhaps with new teachers or instructors.

Excursions offer students opportunity to experience new learning in new ways .  The anticipation and excitement of a great school excursion helps students retain new learning. Getting out of the classroom gives children an opportunity to spend time with each other in a new environment. School excursions often require students to spend time in small groups, observing, chatting and learning.

This week our Stage 2 and Stage 3 students have had the opportunity to take their learning outdoors to The Arboretum ( Stage 2) and Camp Wambaroo ( Stage 3).  Student behaviour, participation and their commeraderie has been exceptional.  Kindergarten and Stage 1 will have the opportunity in Week 9.  We are thrilled to be able to provide these opportunities for our students again before the close of an extraordinary school year.

Waste Free Thursday is making change

SRC are encouraging children to bring no waste to school on Thursday for Term 4 Weeks 6-9.  We are all familiar with the line "from little things, big things grow" - this project is a great example of this idea.  Our students voiced their desire to see change - less waste and less litter. Their idea has been implemented for 2 weeks now and we can see a positive impact around our school - and also in raising awareness.  Congratulations SRC.  Let's all keep working together.

2021 School Magazine

Each year teachers and staff put time into compiling a school magazine as a record of happenings and events from the year. It is a great document to keep, so that in coming years your child can reflect on their educational journey whilst at Sutton Public. A professionally printed copy will be available for $18.00. Due to printing costs we require pre-payment and orders. Please note that a copy of the School Magazine will be presented to each of our Year 6 students with their graduation certificate.

Order form and more information can be found here.

Year 6 Shirts - 2021

As you may know, it is usual for Year 6 students to purchase a Year 6 shirt with their names on the back. We have again this year decided to order before the end of the year so they will arrive early Term 1 2021.

This year the students have chosen a polo shirt in green with a yellow inset. The students have voted for the front and back design of the shirt.

The cost of the shirts this year will be $36.00. You may order multiple shirts and please order a size that your child can grow into, often parents order them too small.

Order form can be found here.

Year 6 Fun-raiser

In a feat to reconcile some of the activities we have missed out on, Year 6 and staff have decided to throw a mini-fete.

The money raised from this event will be added to the existing funds that have been raised through ice-cream sales. Together this money will be used to purchase the Year 6 gift for the school.

The fundraiser will be held during school hours on Monday 7th December in Week 9. There will be a K-2 session and a 3-6 session to ensure all students have an opportunity to enjoy the events.

Each activity is assign a token value 1 token = 50 cents.

Information on the activity stalls and token order form can be found here.

Library Books

Please assist our students to return library books.  As the end of year is fast approaching all library books need to be returned by the school holidays. Thank you.
