Week 3 Term 1 News

Rapid Antigen Test results

  • If your child's test is negative, they have no COVID-19 symptoms and are feeling well, no further action is required and your child should attend school.
  • If your child's test is positive, you must contact the school by phone or email to inform us of the positive result. You must register the positive result at service.nsw.gov.au or on the Service NSW app. Your child cannot attend school for one week and must isolate as per NSW Health guidelines,
  • Students should not attend school if they are unwell or showing even mild COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Students who are at home due to testing positive to COVID-19 are to concentrate on their health and getting well. School work is not expected to be completed by students who are unwell and recovering.
  • If students are COVID-19 positive and asymptomatic or isolating as a household contact and can complete school work during their period of isolation or absence, parents/carers should contact your child's class teacher. Your child's class teacher will advise you on accessing learning from home materials.
  • Please note your child's class teacher will still be teaching face to face lessons at school so will be limited in their ability to support your child if he or she is learning from home. They will support your child as much as possible.
  • It is recommended that students who return to school after recovering from COVID-19 do not participate in rapid antigen test surveillance for 28 days (four weeks after recovery) following release from isolation. This is due to NSW Health advice that people who have recovered from COVID-19 have a low risk of contracting it again in the following 28 days. After 28 days (from week five after recovery) students may resume participation in rapid antigen testing.

Engadine West PS student street library

Good quality book donations needed

Engadine West PS is lucky to have a student street library which is located in the school grounds, outside the school library. Students love taking books from the street library home to read and enjoy.

If you have any pre-loved children’s books you no longer need, donations to help replenish our library are always appreciated and may be left at the front office.

Student bike, skateboard and scooter licence

Bicycles, skateboards and scooters are a popular means of transport for many students travelling to and from school. During this journey, parents/carers are responsible for their child's safety and the NSW Department of Education recommends students who are younger than 10 years should be accompanied by a parent/carer when riding to and from school.

Students who are 10 years and older, and have parental permission, may apply for a rider’s licence to safely travel to school on their bike, skateboard or scooter.

A licence application form is available from the school office or may be found on the school website under the 'General Notes and Forms' tab. Students return this form to Mr Edwards who will discuss with them issues such as safety, storage of bikes etc. and terms of the licence.
