Message from Modanville

Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you to all our families and their hard work in 2021.  It has been a difficult year for schools and families and we are very appreciative to our families who have helped with children during learning from home and encouraged children through See-saw.  Thank you!

I would also like to say a big thank you to all the staff who have worked so hard in our difficult learning conditions in 2021.  There has been a lot of behind the scenes work and long hours in 2021 and I appreciate all the time and effort they put into their students.  Thank you!

Thank you to the P&C and our beautiful fruit platter that has been given to the staff in appreciation of their hard work.

On behalf of the staff I would like to say a big thank you to all the families that have returned their surveys.  We have had a return of 75% with lots of good feedback for the staff to use when deciding 2022 communication methods.  This is by far the most amount of feedback we have received and we are very thankful as this will direct our future.

This week is our last week of the term and students will have some fun reward activities taking place.

On Tuesday the classes will have their end of year class assembly.  Unfortunately due to ongoing COVID restrictions this will not be a whole school assembly and parents are unable to attend.  However staff have put together a number of awards for the students in their class and will be carrying out these assemblies in class groups. Please wear school uniform as photo's will be available via See-saw.

Wednesday is our party / reward day.  Students can come dressed in party clothes, please make sure students have covered shoulders, shoes (no thongs), hat and other appropriate clothing.  Food will be provided for students with the P&C donation of a packet of chips and ice-pole.  The school will also be providing some lollies, popcorn and a BBQ lunch.  Food will comply with COVID standards with every child receiving their own individual packaged food.   Classes are determining their rewards with Disco's, movies and other activities which will be carried out in class groups.

Thursday, clean up day and our 5 cent line up for play equipment fundraiser.  Please send your child with clothes that can get wet.  We will be cleaning the furniture in our rooms as well as packing up anything that is required.  There will also be the opportunity for some water play later in the day so a towel, rashie, suitable shorts as well as dry clothes to change into will be required. Prior to the end of the school day we will be doing our 5 cent line up to raise money for some new play equipment, this has been rescheduled several times due to COVID lock downs.

Thursday will be the last day of the school term.

During the school holidays Modanville Public School has opened its self up as a Share Our Space school.  This means from Saturday 18th December till 27th January our school space will be open for families to use. Please note our school grounds can be used from 8am-5pm including weekdays, weekends and public holidays.  There are some rules which can be found on the picture below, but these include being respectful to all users, reporting any incidents to the number on the poster by the gate and no skateboard / roller skates, no vehicles on site (including motorbikes), no fires, no smoking or alcohol, no glass and no animals.  A copy of the rules can be found on the poster by the gate.  The tennis net and soccer goals and sandpit will be remaining up for the holidays for those who would like to have a game or play.  Could you please remember to return equipment or cover the sandpit if you use these facilities. We hope you enjoy our faculties over the holidays.

Kind Regards

Modanville Public Staff

Canteen

This week students will enjoy a sausage sizzle provided by the school, this is at no expense to your family.

Thank-you for your support of Canteen during Term 4

Lismore City Council

Lismore City Council is seeking input from the community to inform the development of a concept plan for a new Skatepark and Youth Precinct. The existing Lismore Skatepark has reached the end of its life and Council is looking to design a new youth precinct in the location earmarked in Lismore Park as part of the Lismore Parklands Masterplan. This work is being completed in order to apply for upcoming grant funding to build the youth precinct.

This element of the project is to seek feedback to develop the concept design only.

Stage one engagement is to understand the needs of the community for the skatepark and youth precinct to inform the development of a concept plan.

Stage two will be to seek community feedback on the proposed concept plan and may involve some workshops in early 2022.

As the new school year 2022 draws ever closer, the Service NSW Creative Kids Voucher scheme provides a wonderful opportunity for the parents of your 2022 intake of Kindie students to set up their children with some of their basic art materials for the first year. With full time face-to-face learning recommencing in 2022, the Service NSW Creative Kids vouchers need to be redeemed by the end of 2021. Some parents may not be aware of this and may miss out on a great opportunity to help save on the cost of setting their child up for Kindergarten.   The School Club Kindergarten Art Pack is great value at $100 … and, even better, that amount can be completely covered by the Service NSW Creative Kids Vouchers (assuming that parents have not already used the vouchers.)
