Jamberoo Public School Newsletter

Term 4 Week 10 Newsletter 2021

From the Principal

Dear Parent / Carer,

What a wonderful way to begin drawing 2021 to a close, with an amazing week of celebrations here at Jamberoo.

On Monday evening, our Class of 2021 were finally able to let their hair down and enjoy their end of year six celebration. Mrs Aquilina, Mrs Blazesvki, Mrs Galea and their team, pulled together an awesome night. The students and staff enjoyed a beautiful meal, speeches and some dancing. At the end of the evening we were joined by the parents who were able to see the entertaining video put together by Mrs Galea and have a good boogie with their child. Please see photos in this edition.

Today we held our final end of the year presentation assembly. Unfortunately parents and carers were unable to come along and share in the experience. We were very lucky have Grandma Nell here to take photos. Many of these photos are in this edition. Some are unable to be downloaded in this format as their file size is too large. I was also fortunate today to be able to induct our new school captains for 2022 and thank our leaders from 2021.

Outgoing captains Mali B & Kiya R - incoming Mahala P & Hayley M Outgoing Vice captains - Matilda K & Ruby P - Incoming Odin S & Indianah R.

Congratulations to all our award winners and well done on the resilience of those who have achieved all year and maintained our school's high expectations of "Care for self, Care for others and Care for this place!"

Gold Day

Here is the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT - Gold day will be going ahead on Wednesday 15 December in cohorts.

There will be three activities on the day.

Activity #1 - watching the school production with freshly made popcorn in our hall.

Activity #2 - Aqua Skirmish

Activity #3 - Slip'n'slide

So far the weather forecast tells us that it should be warm and sunny on this day, so please come along prepared to get wet. We will also have a sausage sizzle and some special treats on the day. When getting ready for gold day, please think sun safe and clothing and shoes that are able to get wet.

Class parties are also taking place nest week. Each classroom teacher is organizing this with their class. Students are able to wear mufti on their class party day.

Finally I would like to say a massive thank you to all of our Jamberoo Public School community for an amazing year. We made it, and it is from working together as a learning team that our children have thrived. I wish you all a wonderful and safe holiday period.

Jacob Roulstone - Guest Speaker

Jacob is a motorbike rider, but not just any motorbike rider. Jacob is a champion rider, winning multiple Junior Australian Titles and being the first Australian to win a race in the European Talent Cup this year in Spain. This is a competition in which only the best kids from ll other the world race. Jacob is working his way up in the ranks, aiming for a seat in the Motor GP, something only 24 guys in the world get to do.

But more importantly Jacob is an ex-Jamberoo Public School student, staring his schooling journey right here at JPS.

Jacob spoke to our audience about resilience and dedication and all of the things that are needed to be a success in life. He also bought along some of his safety gear to show the children. He would surely need this travelling at speeds of up to 240km/h.

Thank you Jacob for your inspiring speech.

Remember: come to school everyday on time and stay for the entire day!

Kookaaraa's Poetic devices

‘Kookaaraa students have been busy learning about poetic devices and how to incorporate them into their writing. Focusing on word play, Kookaaraa worked together to create an overall idea for their poems and then worked independently to create some poetic masterpieces!’

Cooking with the Principal!

Last week was the very last week of cooking with the Principal in 2021. I had the pleasure of helping Darcy, Archie, Judah and Lachlan create their own version of creamy bacon pasta with garlic bread. The boys were very entertaining to work with and they all enjoyed a very healthy appetite.

I look forward to continuing this program in 2022.

Indigenous Student Program

Our Indigenous students have had a big year diving into culture, traditions and respectful paths leading forward. Kiya, Zach, William, Sophia, Kyle and Lexie have all demonstrated high levels of engagement, passion and leadership throughout the year. I am so proud of their strong connection with each other and their ability to successfully lead various projects around the school this year, including the development of our school's formal Acknowledgement of Country.

The group assisted with ideas for our new outdoor learning space and attended Immersion Day excursions where they continued to build relationships with community members.

We celebrated the end of term cooking up a Kangaroo pasta and garlic bread storm.

I am looking forward to working with Kyle, Lexie and Sophia next year and wish Kiya, Zach and William all the best as they move into the next stage of their learning.
