Last reporting period we had 63 students without an explanation for absences and now we are up to 77!  As we come into the colder months we need to take extra care of ourselves, making sure we have enough healthy foods, wash our hands regularly, stay fit and get enough sleep.  I understand that parents as well as students are sick but all you have to do is reply to the SMS to let us know your child is sick and it’s done.  In a more detailed analysis:

K – from 8 down to 7 students

P/P – from 7 up to 8

Yr 1 -  from 9 down to 8

Yr 2 -  from 10 up to 13,

Yr 3 – from 14 up to 16 students

Yr 4 – from 3 down to 2

Yr 5 – from 6 up to 12

Yr 6 – from 9 up to 11

Look at the Year 2 Parents go!! Nearly down to ZERO!!  What a fantastic effort year 2 parents.  Well done.

Unfortunately, we have had a big increase in the total number of no explanations but the Kindy and Year 4 parents have decreased the number of returns so a huge THANK YOU to those parents.

Year 4 parents are still ahead of other year levels with another decrease of one student and now the Kindy students are coming second. Students, you can remind your parents to give you a note when you return to school or to contact the school when you are away.

Parents, we really need to work hard at this target, just like your children do within their class. Go Rawlinson parents, Go!!  I know you can do it.  Let’s help each other continue to make this the best school in the area.

Junior PEAC

Junior PEAC is done through teacher nominations then a regional selection panel.  Teachers are required to complete quite complex and lengthy paperwork to nominate their students and then they are ranked with all other schools in the area.  Only those who fall in the top selections of the panel are accepted into the program.  It is not an easy process and I would like to sincerely thank those teachers who have nominated their students as I know how long it takes to put the package together.  Your time and effort continues to exhibit our strive for excellence, inclusivity, respect and being ready.  Thank you on behalf of your students.  The following students have been selected from the group of students that were nominated:

CONGRATULATIONS TO:

A6 – Chrislouis Sevilla

A6 -  Daniel Quedley

B1 – Austin Chandler

B2 – Jack O’Donnell

Well done to those students and I hope you enjoy the program and do well.

Reconciliation Day

A huge thank you to Miss Peeradina, the Student Councillors and Mrs Longbottom for the outstanding Reconciliation Assembly this morning. I absolutlely loved the two songs that the whole school sang and acted out-you were all just fantastic and it really brought us together as a family.  Reconciliation is regularly used when dealing with conflict between students. It helps us to acknowledge and realise that it is OK to be different because we are all human and we all have the same emotions. Thus the old saying – “Treat those the way you want to be treated”, is so important.

Remember that there will be a film night tonight, starting at 5.00pm.  You can buy tickets to see A Bran Nue Day on QKR! Come along and support our family and community to celebrate Reconciliation Day.

HEALTH TIPS

School Sores

Impetigo is an infection of the skin caused by bacteria.  It will usually start with a blister or a group of blisters.  The blisters will often pop, weep and form a crust.  Small spots may spread outwards from the first spot. The spots are usually itchy.

If your child has impetigo they should be checked by a doctor.  The doctor may prescribe antibiotics.  You should cover the sores with watertight dressing and cut the child’s nails to prevent them from scratching.  Impetigo is spread very easily, so keep the child home until 24 hours after treatment has begun.  Wash hands regularly to prevent spread to others.
