PRINCIPAL'S NEWS

Dear Parents and Carers

We are into the home straight for 2021 and what a year it has been.  I still feel that we are recovering from the disruption that was 2020 and I am hoping that we will not need to have a lock down as they have had to in the Eastern States.  We are prepared though and all the details of how we will manage a lock down were sent home last term.  If you did not receive this information or would like to refresh yourself on the process, the information is both in the front office and on our website.

Some families have not responded to our request as to whether you have access to the internet and computer hardware at home.  It is essential that we know.  That way if you do not, we can call and make arrangements for work packages to be picked up.  A third note is going home to these families, please respond by returning the information to your child’s teacher.

Mondays Positive Behaviour Support Assembly will focus on  -  We are respectful when we respect other people’s personal space.  Come along and watch the legendary teacher actors from A block demonstrate the Stop Behaviours to our students and some budding A Block student actors demonstrate the Start Behaviours.  They may not be famous but they are fun.

Dancing starts on Monday for our Year 5 and 6 students and will run all term.  This is ultimately for our Year 6’s and their Graduation night however it is one of the most important parts of our Physical Education program.  It improves health and fitness, coordination, self-esteem, motivation, discipline, self-confidence, and most importantly the ability to socially interact with confidence.  We do not make students participate however, we strongly motivate them as they will sit out at Graduation and have to watch as others have all the fun.  Please encourage your children in Years 5 and 6 to participate.

Best wishes

Darryl Dedman

SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS

Dear Parents

The school photo orders will be coming home today.  Please note the following:

  • Magnetic photo frames and additional prints are slotted between the prints of your package.
  • Key chains are packed separately and distributed by the school office to the classroom teachers, who then distribute to the students. Check with your teacher if you have not received yours as yet.
  • Sibling photos are delivered to the eldest child and placed inside their photo package as additional prints if applicable.
  • Digital negative orders will be sent to your email address supplied within 3-5 days of the school photo delivery. Don’t forget to check your junk mail folders.
  • You are still able to place additional orders via the Kapture website including orders for sports, music or special group photos taken on school photo day. Use the same school code as previously supplied.

If you ordered photos more than 10 days after photo day, your order will be handled separately and mailed directly to your home address within the next 28 days. Check your confirmation email for more information.

Kind regards

HEALTH TIPS

Water Safety

In Australia, drowning is the number one cause of death for children under five. To keep your children safe around water:

·         Always stay with your children and watch carefully when they are near water, even if they can swim.

·         Teach your children about water safety and make sure they learn how to swim.

·         Have the whole family learn first aid.

·         If you have a pool have it fenced with self-closing gates.

·         Never leave them alone in the bath.

The Education Department offers low-cost VacSwim programs for school aged children. For more information on swimming lessons during summer via VacSwim go to www.det.wa.edu.au/curriculumsupport/swimming/detcms/portal/  and for water safety tips see www.lifesavingwa.com.au .

UNIFORM NEWS

UPCOMING DATES

Term 4 - October Uniform shop - cancelled.

As I am now working full time off site, the Uniform shop will not be open in term 4.  Uniform purchases can still be made via the Qkr! app or the paper order forms in the office.  Delivery days will be the same as term 3, Mondays or Thursdays only.  P&C chair Rebecca Cavanaugh will be doing the deliveries for me  - Thanks Bec!

Kindy 2022 orientation - Wednesday 24th November - we will need 7 volunteers.  New volunteers welcome!  As this is to support new families and kids in the school other committee members will be running the opening, it's a good opportunity to get involved and meet other parents!  P&C Treasurer Bernice will be running this day.  Thanks Bernice!  Email rawlinson.uniforms@gmail.com if you are interested in helping.

Uniform Shop will be closed for the year on Friday 26th November 2021. No Qkr! uniform orders or paper order forms will be accepted or processed after this date.

NAME SCHOOL UNIFORMS PLEASE

Please remember to name your children's uniform items, this will mean the items can be returned to your child, even from the lost property bin.  Any unnamed items at the end of each term come to the uniform shop to be sold on as a second hand item.

DONATIONS

I would like to ask for donations of any clean, good condition uniform items that you no longer need.  This helps us to supply good quality second hand uniforms for those who would prefer to buy second hand.  Also remember the office needs uniform items for those who may have accidents at school, this includes underwear, shorts skirts etc.  Please also wash and return these items to the office if your child has needed to use them.  These donations can all be put in the donation box by the canteen - or office specific donations or returns can go direct to them.

Kind regards
