Term 4, Week 1

Welcome to Term 4!

We hope that you have had a wonderful holiday break.  Our Term has started very smoothly and we are very excited about the events planned for this term ie Sports Day, DfE Water Safety Program, ColourFunRun and Graduation to name a few.  This term will go very quickly and we are looking forward to lots of learning, excitement and fun!

Last term our students participated in the Name the Satellite Competition and submitted an entry. Recently we received a letter from the Premier of South Australia thanking our school for participating.  The winning name 'Kanyini' was submitted by students from Findon High School.  We extend our congratulations to Findon High School students and a huge thank you and congratulations to our students for writing their persuasive texts for their chosen name for the satellite.

Class Placement 2022 Information

The class placement process begins now in readiness for 2022.   Every year we organise the following year’s class groupings to meet the learning needs of students.

When planning classes, consideration is given to estimated enrolments, Reception intakes, class numbers and gender balance. When allocating students to classes, teachers take into account friendship groups, supportive peers, special needs, learning styles, gender and balance of class groupings. Every effort is made to place students with at least one supportive peer (of their same year level) that they work well with.  Teachers will be facilitating a process where students nominate 3 supportive peers.

Parents/Caregivers are able to provide information that may be useful during the class placement process if they wish. While we cannot accept parents/caregivers requesting a specific teacher, we are happy to receive comments regarding your child’s:

  • specific learning needs,
  • friendship groups,
  • social and emotional needs and
  • any other information which could have an impact on your child’s future class placement.

It is important not to indicate to your child that you have provided information thereby leading her/him to assume the information provided will necessarily be the outcome. Information will only be considered if it is in writing. Please place in an envelope marked Confidential/Class Placement and leave it at the Front Office. Alternatively, you can email dl.0952.info@schools.sa.edu.au - information must be in by the due date Wednesday, October 20th (Week 2, Term 4) by 2pm. Please include your child’s current class teacher and their 2021 year level with the information that you provide.

You can be assured that we do spend a great deal of time and effort in placing children into appropriate class groups. Please note that it is the Principal’s responsibility to make final decisions on classes and student placement.

World Teachers' Day 2021 - 29 October

Australia will celebrate and thank the teaching profession on World Teachers’ Day on Friday 29 October 2021.   Teachers (with support from parents and carers) have ensured education continues across the country this year, despite major challenges. It’s reinforced the significant role teachers play in the lives of children and students, their families, and communities.

On Friday 29 October, you can say a big thank you to teachers by posting a photo in your sunglasses on Twitter or Facebook, either on your own or with family or friends. Use these tags: #BrightFuture @aitsl

Explore photos from 2020 for inspiration: https://twitter.com/i/events/1320498810343231489 From 14 October, help collect a million virtual apples to thank teachers across Australia at www.worldteachersday.edu.au.
