Rawlinson Primary School News

No. 27 - 9th September 2021

PRINCIPAL'S NEWS

Dear Parents,

What a fantastic time we had at the inaugural Rawlinson Primary School Parents' Night. The classes were set up superbly by the teachers and it was tremendous to see all the student work out, showing how they are progressing. I was really pleased to see all the parents enjoying playing the bucket drums with their children and with Mrs Longbottom leading the way. The P&C and Mrs Melanko had the Library set up a treat and I was particularly pleased with the number of parents who were keen to purchase books for their children.

I repeat every year, that children who have Parents who read to them at least four nights a week, are far more successful at school. You are providing the best start for your children and a love of books. Well done.

The term does not end here. We have the Massed Choir next week and I wish Mrs Longbottom and our choir well, in what is an amazing event to be involved in. Also to Mr Pham and our Interschool team as they prepare for the Interschool Athletics in Week 10.

Gotta love RPS, it is the best.

 Cheers,

 Darryl Dedman

Principal

SCHOOL PHOTO DAYS Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th September

Rawlinson school photo days are nearly here!  Every student has received a personalised flyer from Kapture Photography containing your child’s unique codes for ordering school photos online.

All photos, including pre-ordered sibling photos can ONLY be ordered online.  You have received personalised flyers for your children.  It is imperative that you order your sibling photo early to avoid missing out! There is a physical limit in the school schedule to how many sibling photos can be taken. Once the maximum capacity of sibling orders has been reached, no more sibling orders can be placed.

If maximum capacity is not reached, sibling orders close 12pm midday sharp, one business day prior to the first photo day.

The school or the photographers cannot accept late orders for sibling photography. Please do not ask as your request simply cannot be accommodated.

Order EARLY for discount photo day prices

Order your photos within 10 calendar days of photo day to receive discount photo day prices. The last day to order at a discount is Friday 24th September.

Late orders are handled separately to the school delivery and incur a $20 custom service charge.

The Year 2’s, Year 3’s, Year 4’s and Year 5’s have done a great job increasing their attendance and are all back to above 90%.  The Year 4’s are off and racing again with a great percentage of 96!  The Year 6’s have maintained their attendance.  Hopefully the bugs and viruses will start disappearing with this lovely weather we are having.  Looking forward to seeing how we go next time.

Parents, remember to send us notification as to why your child is absent so it can be recorded accurately on our system.

Dear Parents/Guardians

We have had a great response from families sending back the slip at the bottom of the 'Home Internet and Online Devices' survey/note that was sent home with Family Representatives (note takers) on the 25th August.

This survey provides us with important information that is necessary in preparing for a possible lockdown in the future.

If you have not yet sent the slip back, please try to do so by the end of this week.

If you have misplaced the note, please inform the classroom teacher and we will send another one home.

Thank you

Mr Ayres

Deputy Principal

HEALTH TIPS

SLEEP

School-aged children need 10 -11 hours sleep a night.  Getting a good night’s sleep will help your child to be more settled, happy and ready for school, and will strengthen his/her immune system.  Here are some sleep tips:

·         Have a bedtime routine – this will help your child wind down from the day.

·         Keep the bedroom dark, cool and quiet - this will help your child drift off easily.

·         If anxieties or worries are keeping your child from relaxing, acknowledge the feelings and deal with it straight away or plan to sort the issue out in the morning after a good night’s sleep.

Remember, medication is not the answer to children’s sleep problems.

Contact your local Community Health Nurse, or go to http://raisingchildren.net.au for more information

Uniform News

Uniform shop

If you have had a delay in your order, my apologies, there has been sickness in my house.

 Upcoming dates

Term 4 - October Uniform shop - cancelled.

As I am working full time in term 4 off site, the Uniform shop will not be open in term 4. Uniform purchases can still be made via the Qkr! app or the paper order forms in the office. Delivery days will be the same as term 3, Mondays or Thursdays only. Rebecca Cavanaugh will be doing the deliveries for me  - Thanks Bec!

Kindy orientation Date TBA - we will need 7 volunteers. New volunteers welcome! As this is to support new families and kids in the school other committee members will be running the opening, it's a good opportunity to get involved and meet other parents! Email rawlinson.uniforms@gmail.com if you are interested in helping.

Uniform Shop will be closed for the year on Friday 26th November 2021. No Qkr! uniform orders or paper order forms will be accepted or processed after this date.

Name school uniforms please

Please remember to name your children's uniform items, this will mean the items can be returned to your child, even from the lost property bin. Any unnamed items at the end of each term come to the uniform shop to be sold on as a second hand item.

Donations

I would like to ask for donations of any clean, good condition uniform items that you no longer need. This helps us to supply good quality second hand uniforms for those who would prefer to buy second hand. Also remember the office needs uniform items for those who may have accidents at school, this includes underwear, shorts skirts etc. Please also wash and return these items to the office if your child has needed to use them. These donations can all be put in the donation box by the canteen - or office specific donations or returns can go direct to them.

 Kind regards,

Sue Giles
