School Holidays!
The School Holidays have arrived. However, these holidays will not be like any other. Lockdown is set to roll on throughout the break and this will limit most families in what they can do during the break. Please keep in mind that there are active cases in Queanbeyan, Googong and Jerrabomberra. If we limit interactions with others, and can contain the current cases, there is a real possibility we will be back at school early in term 4. We are super keen to have everyone back. We wish everyone a safe break and look forward to hopefully a more normal Term 4.
COVID-19 Update
Currently, the region we are located within has continued with the rolling lockdown. We are continuing with the Home Learning Plan that we began at the beginning of lockdown. We have created a third package of learning and this will go home at the beginning of Term 4. We hope that is through the students on their first day back at school, however if lockdown is extended again, we will have packages ready for collection at school as we did with package 2.
In the event, that we return to learning, we will be returning to Level 3 conditions. This will look very different to the previous way we were learning at school, which was under level 2 conditions.
Our operating guidelines under level 3 will involve the following:
- All staff and students that experience the mildest of COVID symptoms, should remain at home until symptom free and the returning of a negative covid test result.
- Face masks are required for staff at school in all school settings, including the playground.
- Students are strongly encouraged to wear masks at school. The school has some student sized masks for those students that would like to wear them.
- QR code sign-in processes are expected of all staff.
- Non-essential visitors are not permitted in schools.
- Parents should maintain physical distancing when gathering outside of the school gate.
- Parents that do need to enter the school, should follow mask-wearing requirements and sign in using the Service NSW QR code. However, we encourage all parents to contact the school via, phone calls and email.
- Many school programs such as SRE and excursions will be placed on hold for the time being.
- Our OOSH service will continue to operate morning and afternoon for those parents that require before and after school care.
- Assemblies can only be held without visitors.
- Modification of school based programs to meet Covid requirements.
This means that the school should be back to some regular operations daily. We hope that conditions continue to improve daily and that we return to a more normal daily program.
We should have a more clearer picture of events in the second week of the school holidays. Any information that is released will be forwarded to our community though our regular communication channels.
Vacation Care
Our partners of 'Bigchild Care' are operating vacation care during the holiday period. It is essential that you book, so they can staff the service as required. Due to the growing conditions in the region, the service will only be operating daily at school. We thank those that have already booked, and want to reassure you that the service will have covid safety protocols in place to keep all involved safe. If you need to work or need just a day to get your thoughts together, consider using the service.
District Athletics Carnival
The District Carnival for 2021 has been cancelled. We hope that conditions improve in 2022 and we can get through to District, Regional and beyond. We urge all interested individuals to continue to training, so you can be at your best in 2022.
Science Fair
Please remember that we are aiming to hold our Science Fair, when we return to learning. Please do not throw away your amazing efforts. We understand that you may want to clear some room at home, but we are keen to learn from your work. We appreciate all that you have done, and look forward to it being shared with everyone.
Kinder Orientation
Camp Berry - Week 10
Restrictions for Covid are continuing to roll forward. We have made the decision to postpone our camp to 29 November to 1 December (Monday to Wednesday Term 4 Week 9). We hope that conditions will improve by that time and we can attend the camp. Please add the new dates to your calendar.
