Respect Responsibility Personal Best

Term 3, Week 4, Aug 2 2021

From The Principal

Zone Athletics

Congratulations to all students who participated at the zone athletics carnival last Friday.

Mr Geddes reported that you were all respectful and responsible and gave your personal best on the day.

Thank you also to the parents who were understanding and supportive of the COVID procedures on the day - much appreciated!

Jeans for Genes

This Friday is Jeans for Genes Day. Students may wear denim jeans, shorts or skirt in exchange for a gold coin donation that will be sent to the Children's Medical Research Institute.

The families of the 1 in 20 kids facing a birth defect or genetic disease are used to hearing words like “incurable” or “lifelong effects”. It doesn’t have to be this way. Right now, we’re working on gene therapy to find cures for previously incurable genetic diseases.

Kids just want to be kids, but instead of playing sports with their friends or catching butterflies on a sunny day, these kids are getting liver transplants, taking dozens of medications, or getting their next dose of chemotherapy.

Your support helps the scientists at Children’s Medical Research Institute find cures, so these kids and millions more like them can go back to being kids. Thank you!

P&C

The P&C meeting is still able to go ahead at school this Wednesday at 6.30pm.

We will be spaced out in Mrs Parks' classroom and you will need to wear a mask.

See you all then!

COVID lockdown preparations

As a school, we have discussed procedures, staffing, lessons etc preparing in case there may be a lock-down as we saw in the Orange area recently.

It would be of benefit if families too could have have these discussions, including:

Is there someone available to look after your child/children?

Do you have the resources/capacity for your child/children to work online?

Would you need paper copies of work?

Are you able to contact the class teacher through the ClassDojo app?

Would you need any resources to be able to work effectively from home?

Teachers will be asking these questions through ClassDojo this week.

Your response is appreciated to help further with our preparations and ensure we are able to cater for all students. Thank you!

Book Week

In week 7 we will be celebrating book week. The theme for book week this year is "Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds." On Thursday 26th August we will be having our book week parade where students can dress up as their favourite book character. During book week we will also be holding our Scholastic Book Fair. It is a fun reading event that brings the books the kids want to read right into our school. Mrs Wolfe will be setting up the book fair in the library and students will be able to preview the book fair before it is open. It is a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level.  Due to current restrictions parents and families will not be able to attend these events. Each class will be participating in a virtual bookparade that will be later shared with parents and families. Further information will be shared with you regarding purchasing from the bookfair. If you have any questions or concerns please email Mrs Wolfe ashlea.wolfe@det.nsw.edu.au
