Since mid March, we have inundated you with lots of communication about everything COVID-19 related and we haven't had the opportunity to share our regular school newsletter with you all. As we settle into the new 'normal' we would like to release our June issue of the Newsletter in celebration of having our students back at school for full time face to face teaching and learning. We would also like to give a special shout out to our students who have not yet been able to return to school - we miss you and look forward to you joining us soon.
As restrictions continue to be lifted state wide, the Department has provided new advice about school activities that are now able to commence. There are several activities with a green light as of Monday 15 June, such as school assemblies limited to 15 minutes, incursions and a range of co-curricular programs. Further activities will also be able to take place from the beginning of Term 3, including school sport, work experience and some inter school activities. There are still restrictions in place for events which involve large gatherings of adults and we will continue to find new ways of connecting with you all. Please see the guide for parents and carers attached at the end of this newsletter for more detail.
I would like to welcome back from maternity leave, Ms Kristie Robson, PDHPE teacher. She returned amidst our transition from remote learning to the full time return of students and her recent work in organising and running sport under challenging circumstances has been appreciated.
Back in late February, which feels like last year, I had the pleasure of attending the Principal Induction Conference in Sydney delivered by the Department of Education School Leadership Institute (face to face pre-pandemic style).
This conference provided engaging, relevant and significant professional learning. This included leading high quality teaching and learning across the school, enhancing student wellbeing strategies, and ensuring that in our school community every child is known, valued and cared for. I was lucky enough to attend this conference and be reminded of the importance of modelling lifelong learning to my staff and students.
The recent upheaval to all of our lives and the impact it has had on the learning of our students has given me an even deeper gratitude and appreciation for our school and wider school community. I thank each and every one of you for all that we have achieved together and for the work we will do collaboratively as we navigate the next 6 months and respond to changes and ongoing health advice. I would also like to specifically thank the P&C for their continued support and advice over the past few months. It is a small but dedicated team who work very hard to support our school.
Best wishes,
Voula Facas
