The nature of learning

Term 1 Week 3

Principal's report

Welcome to 2021.

It is fantastic to welcome all of our returning and new students, staff and families to the school. We have had a great start to the year and the classes are all working on building positive relationships and establishing their learning routines. Further down in the newsletter you will see some of the photos of classes for this year.

The introduction of the QR code for site entry is going well and the majority of adults are signing in using the code or the paper record form located in front of the office. As the restrictions ease we will see the recommencement of assemblies in term 2. Parents of presenting classes will be able to attend the modified events with a QR sign in at the gym available.

Swimming begins next week and the forecast looks like it is going to be in the low 30's which will make for perfect swimming weather. A reminder to parents that there is a $2 spectator fee and that parents need to ensure they are physically distancing while seated in the area next to the kiosk or on the grass. There is no pool side access. No photos are allowed to be taken by parents at the Salisbury Pool.

Thank you to all of the families who have already promptly paid their school fees or applied for Schoolcard. If you are having difficulties in making payments please speak to one of the members of our Front Office Admin team.

We are looking at some upgrades within the school this year as a part of the funding received around maintenances. These improvements will see some works to the front office area, student toilets next to the library and some other minor works.

One of the exciting happenings this term will be the completion of a large mural art work on the back of our library building. NITSUA a well known artist who has painted many murals including the Cowell Silos will create a representation of our school for all to enjoy.  Some of his artworks are shown below.

Fruit Fly Information

The department of Primary Industries and Regions (PIRSA) has updated its information about fruit fly restrictions in South Australia.

This might change the types of fruit and vegetables your child can bring to school/preschool/child care.

New colour coded maps for metropolitan Adelaide and Riverland residents show the red outbreak areas, yellow suspension areas, and green areas not affected by fruit fly.

Our school and children’s centre is located in the green not impacted area.

If you live in the green not impacted area

Your child can bring any type of fruit or vegetable to school, preschool or child care.

If you live in the red outbreak or yellow suspension (we have many families living in this area) area:

Your child must not bring any fruit or vegetables on this list to school, preschool or child care. This applies even if it has been cut up.

Instead, PIRSA has provided a list of alternative fruit and vegetable options suitable for lunch and breaks.

Please note that grated, dried, frozen, cooked or pureed fruit and vegetables of any kind are acceptable in any area.

We appreciate your cooperation as we help protect South Australia from fruit fly.

AGM Information

Please slow down!!!!

Just a reminder to please always slow down to 25 km/h within our school zone. This is particularly important while we are waiting for the new line markings to be completed following the road resurfacing. We have had several notifications of drivers going a lot faster than they should be.  Please note that there is nothing that the school can actually do about this it would be a police matter. If you have concerns or need assistance please call the police on 131 444. Please be vigilant when in the school zone there are lots of students who cross the roads and who get in and out of cars at busy times of the day. Please don't park in the drop and go zone this area is for pulling up to quickly drop off and pick up students not to park.

School Security

We ask that everyone please stays vigilant. If you see something that doesn't look right or hear something that you shouldn't be hearing please don't hesitate to call Police assistance on 131 444. It would be much appreciated.

It is always fantastic to have such a great community looking out for the school and it's surroundings.
