Principal's Report

Welcome to our May edition newsletter. I would like to begin by thanking the parents and carers who attended the parent teacher interview night. I hope the meeting was beneficial for parents/carers to gauge how their child is performing at school and how they can support  them at home.  End of this term, you will be receiving a semester report on your child's learning.  Our aim is to keep parents/carers well informed about the teaching and learning that happens at our school. If you have any concerns about your child, please contact your child's classroom teacher via the office. I ask you not to approach the teacher after school unless it is a quick clarifying query.

Our ANZAC Service, the first whole school assembly in over 12 months was held on Thursday 22nd of April. I would like to mention that I was very proud of the manner in which the assembly was held. The students showed respect and were solemn throughout the ceremony. Well done to all the students, especially our Kindergarten and year 1 students as it would have been their first whole school assembly.

In term 2, we welcomed Mr Andrew Doyle who has been appointed as deputy principal of Marsden Road Public School. Many of you may have already met him at the front gate. Mr Doyle comes to us with an abundance of experience. He has been in senior leadership roles for a number of years and as such will be an asset to our school. His knowledge, skills and experience will be put to good use at Marsden Road Public School. Miss Atkinson will also continue in her role as relieving  deputy principal for the remainder of the year.   As we welcome a new staff member, we also say goodbye to our Hub Coordinator and SLSO, Ms Jina Dwaraknath. Ms Jina, as she is known, is leaving us to join a private Montessori preschool. We wish her the very best in her new role and thank her for her service to our community the past two and half years. I am aware that many of the community members have formed a relationship with her through the Hub and will miss her. The good news is that the Hub will continue to provide service to our community. We are in the process of engaging the Hub Coordinator and hoping that the handover is done as smoothly and effectively as possible.

Sport Achievements

Throughout the year, students are provided with opportunities to trial in numerous competitive sports through the Liverpool Primary Schools Sports Association. If selected, students can go on to represent Liverpool Primary School Sports Association at various levels of Sydney South West Championships for that sport.

The following students have been successful from our school:

Dusan Sormaz for boys' football and

Aidan Reece for mixed netball.

Congratulations to these students.

MRPS Cross Country Carnival

It’s been a long time since we had a long race! Students were eager to compete against each other, running, jogging, and walking towards the finish line on Thursday, 29 April when we held our school cross country carnival. Excitement levels were at an all-time high with house captains leading their fellow members in motivating cheers.

Our older students had to run three laps around the whole school! Whilst our kindergarten students only had to run one lap of the oval, it was still a mighty effort and definitely got the heart beating a lot faster.

Let’s remember, this was also the first cross country carnival for kindergarten and year 1 students! With Miss Antala and Mr E Tran leading the races for our younger students, they cheerfully walked towards the starting line, with hopes of overtaking him. Although some students came close, none were able to catch Miss Antala or Mr E Tran in the end.

The carnival was a great success, and students had an amazing time! It was wonderful to see parents cheering for their child, and we hope to see you again at the next carnival.
