Principal's Message

Easter Hat Parade

The staff and students are eagerly anticipating the Easter Hat Parade. We are looking forward to our parents and carers attending.  You will need to sign in, use the QR code and follow COVID-19 safety measures.

Don’t be shy and please join in the fun. Mr Sullivan has a prize for the parent wearing the most interesting Easter Hat!

Will the Easter Bunny make an appearance?

Don’t miss out on the P&C Easter Raffle. Please return your tickets to the front office. Raffle will be drawn on Thursday 1 April at the parade.

Have Your Say

The school is currently in the process of developing a four year plan to enhance your child’s education. The ‘Have your Say’ survey was recently sent home and I would like to extend my thanks to all parents who responded.

After the hat parade, parents are invited to come and have a cuppa and a hot cross bun and participate in a group discussion to share your thoughts on what you think we can do to make our school even better.

There are five lucky door prizes to be won. Each lucky winner will walk away with a $20 dollar gift voucher.  We really value your time and want you to have your say in your child’s education.

You will really enjoy reading this newsletter. There have been quite few terrific events occur at school of late - Big Vege Crunch, Harmony Day and excursions. The photos in this newsletter are fabulous. Thank you to all my staff who make these events happen through their good will.

Cross Country Carnival

Due to the course at Wollondilly Public School being too wet, our cross country carnival has been postponed until Wednesday, 21 April (Term 2, Week 1). New permission notes were sent home with students last week noting the revised date ( apologies to those families who have already returned the notes).. The carnival is for students turning 8 years this year and older.

Correct Child Restraints in Cars

I have noted that not all children are correctly restrained in cars when picked up from school.  Please ensure that all children are secured safely. Heads Up- I have asked the police to patrol the area!

Good News Phone Calls

The staff and I have been making our, ‘Good News Phone Calls,’ in the last week. I must say they are a joy and it has been the highlight of my day!   We are only making a couple a week, hope you get a call soon.

Thursday 1 April is the last day of Term 1. All the staff here at Goulburn Public School would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Easter and a restful holiday break . We look forward to seeing you all back on Tuesday 20 April for Term 2.

PBL News

Term 1 - Weeks 8 & 9

PBL Weeks 8 & 9

To start our year off on the right foot, we have decided to focus on each of our core expectations throughout Term 1. In Weeks 8 & 9 we have looked closely at the school expectation ‘Learner’. What does it mean to be a Learner? What does being a Learner look or sound like at school? How do you show that you are a Learner towards others? Students have had the opportunity to discuss and share their thoughts on these questions and more. Try engaging your child by asking what they have learned from these discussions!

Harmony Day 2021

Indigenous History Excursion

On Thursday 11th March, students in Year 3, Year 4 and 3-6 Deakin travelled to Canberra for an amazing day of learning. Based on this semester's current History topic of 'First Contacts', students were able to learn about Indigenous life before European settlement and Cook's exploration of the East Coast. The day started at the National Gallery of Australia, where students were taken through the gallery to learn about Australian art. Lunch was in the sculpture garden at the gallery, with lots of fun and games. Students then travelled to the National Museum of Australia, where they took part in an interactive exhibit on Cook's journey along the East Coast in 1770. All of the students had a lot of fun and enjoyed activities such as sniffing the 'Smells of the Endeavour' (though not all the smells were very nice!). The day was a hit with students and staff and was a great way for the kids to engage with History in a fun and hands-on way.

On Friday 19 March 2021, Year 5 and 6 students from Poidevin and Taylor went to the Goulburn Regional Art Gallery where they were given a tour of the exhibition of works by Southern Highlands artist David Ryrie. They then participated in a short workshop where they drew places significant to Goulburn.
