PRINCIPAL'S NEWS

Pick up and Drop off

Could I please remind drivers that the speed limit is 5km through the school and that it is one way only.  I have observed over the last couple of weeks, people coming in the exit and driving too fast when dropping off and collecting students. I would hate to have a child injured and you would hate to be the one who caused it.

Also, if one of the marked bays are empty, please do not park in them as there are many times that we have to leave the school but are returning and rely on being able to get back in our parking spot as we have work to continue with.  Thank you for your consideration.

Electronic Devices

It has been reported to me that many students are bringing devices to school that can record conversations or take photos but are not phones or iPads.  Certain watches and other devices have been used to take photos of students at school.  This breaches our Mobile Phone policy and the knowledge that your child is safe at school.

Students do not need a watch at school as everything runs by the bell.  Students do not need to bring toys to school and I ask that they don’t, unless it is for news.  News items are usually kept in the class for safe keeping and are not allowed out into the playground as they could get damaged.  Toys cause many disruptions in the class and take away from your child’s educational time while teachers try to encourage others to put their toys away during class time.

Could I please strongly advise that you check your child’s bag before they get out of the car so no unnecessary toys are brought to school and no devices that can take photos or record conversations are brought as well.  Your assistance with this issue is so greatly appreciated.

The Year 5’s and Year 6’s have done a great job increasing their attendance and well done to the awesome year 4’s staying above 90%.  This is the lowest attendance I have seen in quite some time.  I know there has been a tummy bug and colds going around lately and this just shows how important it is to wash our hands constantly, to avoid the spread of germs.  Hopefully we are through the worst of it now and attendance will pick back up to our usual above 90%.  Healthy lunches and snacks at school also help to keep your child well.  I do see some fantastic lunches while I’m on duty, so well done to parents and carer’s.  I tell the kids I wish their mum would make my lunch!!

Although we have had low attendance, I thank you for keeping your child home when they are unwell to limit the spread of germs.  I hope everyone gets better soon.

Parents, remember to send us notification as to why your child is absent so it can be recorded accurately on our system.

STUDENT COUNCIL 2021

A big thank you to our parent community who have embraced the student councillor's initiative to support and help families experiencing food poverty. Last Friday we collected our  first set of donations from the bin.  It is intended that we collect each week and organise a pickup or drop off to Food Bank WA every fortnight.  Thank you for your ongoing support.

HEALTH TIPS

HANDWASHING

Washing hands is the easiest way to protect ourselves from contagious diseases, like colds, influenza and gastroenteritis.  Hands should be washed before and after eating or preparing food, after going to the toilet and after nose blowing.

When teaching your child to wash their hands:

·         Use clean water and soap, making sure they cover their hands and wrists.

·         Use a brush to clean under nails if they’re dirty too

·         Dry their hands with something clean (like a paper towel)

Alcohol based sanitisers are useful when soap and water is not available. Use half a teaspoon of the product and encourage your child to rub their hands together until they’re dry.  If you can see dirt on their hands, it is better to use soap and water.  For more information go to www.healthywa.wa.gov.au

UNIFORM NEWS

Next Open - Thursday 19th August before the Sports carnival

The uniform shop will be open before the sports carnival starts, from 8.00am - 8.30am for you to get any last minute faction shirts and hats!

Change of deliveries

Notices have been posted in the P&C notice board, the uniform shop window and in the office.

The new delivery days for uniforms ordered via Qkr is Monday or Thursday.  This is due to a change in my work schedule.  My apologies for any inconvenience.

For any questions, please email Sue at Rawlinson.uniforms@gmail.com

Name uniforms please

This is a reminder to everyone to please name your jumpers and hats. The lost property is full of unnamed jumpers!  If your child’s jumper is named, it can be returned to them.

Donations

The donations box is still located down by the canteen.  If you have any clean good quality uniform items you no longer need please consider donating them back to the school.

Emergency uniforms

The office would also appreciate donations of clean uniform bottoms (bike shorts, skirts, track pants or underwear)  in all sizes, for those students who may have an accident while at school.  They would also be grateful for the return of any items that your child may have been sent home in.
