Principal's Report

Welcome to week 8, Term 4.

I hope this fortnight’s edition of the newsletter finds you safe and well.

We are almost at the end of the term and year, keep going Wyong holidays are in sight.

School Gates

Our front gates are all finished and looking fantastic, which I am sure you will agree. These automated gates are a way in which to keep our staff and students safe and secure during school hours. Just to reiterate, the main pedestrian gate outside the office is open until 9:30am every school morning and re-opens again from 2:30pm of an afternoon. Between these hours it is locked for security reasons, however entry is as easy as buzzing the intercom and one of our lovely office ladies will activate the door for you. Once your intercom call is answered, simply push down on the gate handle, and proceed to come on in, please however be patient, the office is a very busy place, but rest assured someone will tend to your entry request asap.

Leadership 2022

This week we held our Leadership 2022 speeches, and what an amazing job our very deserving candidates did in delivering their bid for the roles. Each and every one of you are so deserving of taking the baton from the year 6 leaders this year, I wish you all the best of luck.

Kindergarten 2022

Even though Covid has affected our standard Leap into Learning routine, I hope you all enjoyed our virtual tour delivered throughout our social channels earlier last week. It was a great way for our new students to be to get a feel for the school, albeit whilst they can’t be here in person just yet. Next up we have a virtual tour of the Kindergarten classrooms, offering a more specific look at where your child will be learning. Looking forward, on Thursday the 2nd December, 2022 we will have our Kindergarten team set up on the grassed area of the SaCC centre. We encourage parents of new Kinder students to come along anytime between 9:30 AM and 2:00 PM and pick up a ‘welcome to big school’ information pack, along with more information regarding the commencement of the Leap into Learning program that will run from the 2nd till the 4th of February, 2022. Please note, all Covid safety measures are in place for the meet and greet, and require parents to social distance, QR Code in and show vaccination proof for entry.

Yr 6 Farewell - Yippee

The students and staff are now looking forward to the excitement of anticipating our Year 6 Farewell, and presentation day. Our year 6 Farewell is being held at the Wyong Golf Club on Thursday the 9th December, 2021, and more information regarding this will be communicated when it comes to hand. We cannot wait to see our wonderful Year 6 cohort celebrate in style, after such a difficult year.

Presentation Day

Furthermore, we will be holding our Presentation Day this year on Tuesday the 7th December (K-2) and Wednesday the 8th of December (3-6). Unfortunately, parents are not permitted to attend this year due to Covid regulations, however there will be photos on our website and social pages for you to view.

Staffing Updates

I am pleased to announce that Mrs Anna Carter (OC teacher) has been permanently appointed to the school. Anna was a permanent teacher from Scone Public School, and moved here temporarily a couple of years ago, and has done a superb and professional job on the OC classes. She has been moved into the permanency role via skilled transfer and we are glad to have her here.

Mrs Jenny Bath (Assistant Principal) has been successful at Merit Selection to work here permanently from 2022. Her role will be supporting and leading Maths K-6, Jenny has already been working here this year as an Instructional Leader. She has immense experiences and is a friendly and well supportive executive member of the school and a welcome addition to the school.

Mrs Kellie Campbell (Learning and Support Teacher) has formally moved to Narrabeen High School. Kellie has worked at Narrabeen for a couple of years now, and the commute was made easier, as she lives in the area near Narrabeen. Her position will be filled once staffing have advised the school. We thank her for her time here previously and her support shown to our students.

Finally, I wish to announce that I will be taking leave for 2022 from here at Wyong Public School. I have recently been offered a Headteacher (Principal) role overseas in Essex, (England), and have accepted this role. My wife, young family and I are keen for a new challenge, and some life adventures too. The Principal role here has been advertised via an Expression of Interest for 2022, and the Director of Education Mr Jason Baldwin will be handling this process. This will mean a Relieving Principal will be replacing me for 2022, and we wish them all the very best.

The school is working extremely well, with all staff working as a cohesive unit, and are well supported by the executive staff and front office. Our school plan is up and running and our staffing will be finalised very soon for 2022, we have seen a few changes in the since I began in 2014.

We will have one more newsletter for the year in week 10, and I ask that if your family is moving on from the school in 2022, that you please advise your current teacher and the front office staff.

Yours Sincerely,

 Mr Todd Miladinovic.
