Remote Learning

Congratulations to children, staff and parents ( and extended family) for once again meeting the challenges of Remote Learning during our latest Circuit Breaker. The staff certainly appreciate the support the children received at home during this challenging time. Whilst it is not the same way we deliver lessons when face to face the children continued to experience rich learning opportunities and develop very important life skills.

At present we are still under RESTRICTIONS , inside buildings. If you do enter the building ALL VISITORS & STAFF must sign in via QR code. Until further notice we ask parents not to enter building unless necessary. Thankyou.

Face Masks

It is compulsory for all adults (and children over 12) to wear a mask on school property whilst inside school buildings.  We thank you for your support in following these regulations. Regulations change regularly so please refer back to Skoolbag notifications and newsletters to confirm latest regulations. Thank you

QR CODE LOG IN

New COVID regulations ...we MUST have parents, visitors, volunteers  tradesman and staff who come into school building log in via St Timothy's Registered QR code . These are situated at the front office. We appreciate your support in meeting these regulations.

Kidney Kids Giving Day

What a wonderful experience to see our children dress in RED in support of Kidney Kids Giving day. This is a fundraiser close to our hearts as we admire the strength of Aleia as she has battled this disease. On Wednesday we showed our support by promoting kidney health and by raising funds to donate to Kidney Kids Giving day. There was wonderful splashes of red to massive red costumes. All efforts to dress in red, gold coin donations were greatly appreciated.

Pyjama Day- Wellbeing Day

Thursday 24th June is our Pyjama Wellbeing day. Children are invited to wear Pyjamas and dressing gown ( if have one ..please DO NOT buy), bring their favourite bedtime friend, a pillow if you want, and a book to read and relax from 2:30-3:30 with friends. We ask for a gold coin donation or to donate non-perishable items, toiletries, clothing in good condition and special treats. This is usually sent on the last day of Term 2 to St Vinnies.

St Vinnies Appeal

As a part of our Whole School InquiRE to “Be More” we would appreciate donations of warm clothing and blankets for those less fortunate than ourselves through the annual “Vinnies Winter Appeal”.

During this lockdown period you may find time to clean and or sort through clothing in good condition  (baby, child, adult) and blankets and/or coats. Any clean items you feel that you do not require any more can be sent to school on your child's return after lockdown. This initiative will take place over a few weeks but the coming week may provide you with time to sort through materials suitable for the “Winter Appeal”.  Thank you,   Anne-Maree Noonan - Religious Education Leader.

Tabloid Surprise

On Monday children are invited to wear a 'touch of House Sport Colours' along with school sports uniform to enter into the Tabloid Surprise. Points will go to each team for a variety of events based on successful completion of activity. Our aim is  'Keeping Kids Moving'. Some activities will be pure fun and just luck, whilst others will be skill based. Both styles will have points awarded.  These points will be added to our Athletics Sports points from Term 1.  Fingers crossed for fine weather!

In the Classrooms

Mathematics

Today the junior school students used a toy catalogue to identify prices, calculate half of a cost or what the cost will be after the sale.  This toy catalogue contained 110 pages and included a ‘Contents’ page.  Each student chose a favourite page to share with the class, identifying the page number and the price of the ‘wish list’ item.  We discussed the language of ‘cheapest’ to ‘most expensive’ and ordered items from a chosen page from either lowest amount to highest amount or highest amount to lowest amount. This activity also involved reading the description of toys or media items. Catalogues are a great way to work with numbers and concepts such as ‘sharing’ the cost of an item or ‘buying 2’ of a sale item. The students discussed and located page numbers in the catalogue.
