Broken Hill North Public School

Newsletter No. 3 - 22 February 2021

From the Principal

Another really positive week in Paradise with numerous double and triple whammys being acknowledged on Friday. Another highlight was that for the second week we had over 200 students attending every day of the week! Given our ‘Focus On Improvement’ theme for the year, it has been a sensational start. KOKO!!!

2021 will see us continue to pursue the goal of being a paperless school with our communications with our community. We still have many students who need permission notes signed for Tuesday’s swimming carnival. Please attend to this as we’ll need all staff at the pool to run the carnival and won’t have the capacity to supervise our non-permission primary kids back at school. The positive news however, is that parents will be able to attend the carnival, albeit separate to the kids in line with the pool’s COVID Safe Plan.

Current guidelines re COVID-19:  Keep an eye on this space as things are likely to change week by week, particularly with the Victorian lock down in place.

COVID Safe Check-in

Signage at each entry point explains the expectations and processes currently in place.

How2Learn

One of our major and ongoing professional learning activities we have in place is HOW2Learn which is a research-based package aimed at increasing our teaching skills and improving outcomes for our students. Each week I will endeavour to propose aspects of mindsets and challenge you to take it into consideration in your role as parents / carers.

Fixed Mindset

If you have to try you must be stupid

Change to

Growth Mindset

If you have to try you must be learning

Which mindset is most likely to result in learning? Change the words, change the mindset!
