Gospel Reading

33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year A

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew

Jesus spoke this parable to his disciples: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a man on his way abroad who summoned his servants and entrusted his property to them. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to a third one; each in proportion to his ability. Then he set out. Now a long time after, the master of those servants came back and went through his accounts with them. The man who had received the five talents came forward bringing five more. “Sir”, he said “you entrusted me with five talents; here are five more that I have made.” His master said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have shown you can be faithful in small things, I will trust you with greater; come and join in your master’s happiness.”’

Living the Gospel – Bring forth the Kingdom.

Like the original audience of Matthew’s gospel, we can sometimes rely too much on God to bring about the Kingdom in our world. Like the lazy servant in the gospel, we can fall into the trap of handing the world back to God in exactly the same condition that we received it. We have to make a difference in the world! We are called to change the world and bring it closer to the realisation of the Kingdom. The only way that we can do that it is to live our lives as if the Kingdom is already here.

NAIDOC WEEK

This week within our classes we celebrated NAIDOC Week. On Thursday the school participated in an online dance session with Move It Mob Style. This was an initiative supported by the Jarara Unit from CEDP. It gave the students an opportunity to experience a few Indigenous dance moves.

End of Year

Unfortunately, due to covid restrictions, our end of year events will not proceed in the same format as previous years. While we now have permission for parents to be on site after school hours for a P&F meeting, there are still restrictions for schools allowing parents on site during school hours. This means there will be a change to the way in which we will celebrate Christmas, Graduation Mass and Award Ceremony.  All these significant events will be celebrated with the students and we are working within the parameters to ensure the safety of all, while endeavoring to include our parents, in some capacity.  We thank you for your patience and continued support during this time.

Christmas Hampers

Once again we will be supporting the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Hamper Appeal in conjunction with the OLOL Parish. Please see note attached which was also sent home last week with the eldest in the family.

A HUGE thankyou for the generosity that has already been given for this Outreach experience. Here are just a couple of photos of the items that have already been brought in.

Social Skills

This week social skill is to be “Empathetic”

When being empathetic I:

look at things from other people’s point of view

think about how my actions may affect others

think about how another person is feeling

think about how I can make others feel better

School Canteen Account

Canteen lunch orders placed through Flexi Schools.

Opening a school canteen account works in credit. Some days, your child/children may need a refreshment such as a juice or even a frozen fruit ice block on a hot day, but most importantly, there may be a time your child forgets their lunch at home or you simply forgot, having a canteen account puts a parents worry at ease. If this happens, simply ring the school canteen and one of our lovely staff members will be happy to take your child's lunch order by simply adding it on your school canteen account.

All your child needs to do is go to the canteen, and let them know their name and class and their purchase will be subtracted off the account.  Parents can open a school canteen account for your child/children to be available if needed, to open an account you can go to Mels Tasty Bites or  fill out the form attached and send it off to your school canteen with the correct amount of money.

Once the credit runs low, an sms or a note will be sent to you, to let you know its time to top up again.
