Principal's Message

New OSHC provider 2022 (Out of School Hours Care)

I am pleased to share with the Lambton community that following an open tender process, our schools’ new OSHC provider for 2022 onwards will be Elermore Vale OSHC. The Elermore OSHC team are a local organisation that are currently running highly regarded OSHC services at Hillsborough, Wallsend South and Warner’s Bay Public Schools.

The Schools Infrastructure team is currently working with Elermore Vale OSHC management to finalise their approvals and contracts and they are expected to take over as the on-site OSHC provider from the first day of the 2022 school year (28 January). Their contract will be for 5 years with the option of extending for an additional 3 years.

Following community feedback, this tender included the provision of vacation care service as well as before and after school care. Although the new OSHC will not have approval in time to provide vacation care for the upcoming Christmas holidays, vacation care will be available to families from the 2022 Term 1 holidays onwards. I am sure this will be welcome news for many LPS families.

The new operating hours will be  6:30-9:00am before school and 2:50-6:00pm after school. Vacation care sessions will be 6:30am-6:00pm Monday to Friday. Information about how and when you can book your child into the new OSHC service will be forthcoming very soon

Finally, although our current provider Camp Australia, were unsuccessful through the tender process, they have been caring for the students at Lambton for 7 years which is significant. On behalf of the community, I offer the Camp Australia team our sincere thanks for the care they have shown our students during that time.

New P&C Executive Team

Following the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday night, I am pleased to congratulate and share with you the new executive team who represent parents and will lead the P&C in 2022:

President – Jaime Bartlett

Vice President – Sarah Dennis (Scudds)

Secretary – Louse Ford

Treasurer – Sarah Colston

It goes without saying, but our P&C are an amazing team of volunteers who generously give of their time throughout the year to support our students and school. Their efforts, despite the pandemic, is particularly praiseworthy and deserving of recognition. The ushering in of this new executive does mean that we say goodbye to our current President Kirsty Stewart, who follows her daughter Jasmine to Lambton High next year.

I will save a more fitting thank you to Kirsty for our end of year celebrations, but for now I’d like to acknowledge and thank her for her dedicated service over a number of years through P&C. She is an amazing woman who I have been privileged to lead alongside. I look forward to continuing the great partnership that exists between the school and P&C with the new executive team into next year.

Debating Team – more success

You may have seen in last week’s newsletter that the Premier’s Debating Competition has recommenced online and the Year 6 Lambton debating team had a win in the first round of knockout debates. I’m pleased to report that the team had another win this week successfully arguing (a tough topic) that ‘Schools should not go on overnight excursions’. That’s 2 wins in the knockout rounds with 2 more rounds to go before state semi-finals.

To say we are delighted for them is an understatement, but with so few student activities permitted at present, they have given us all something to cheer for. We are so proud of them and wish them all the best for Round 3 this week!

Have a great week

Leaving in 2022?

We have come to that time of year where we are starting preliminary planning for the 2022 school year. Student enrolment numbers play a strong part on our teaching allocation and budget for next year. If any families are already aware that their child will be moving to a different school for the start of the 2022 school year, could you please alert the office as soon as possible so that we can take this into account.
