As the 2021 school year draws to a close, there are a number of people who I would like to thank for making this year such a wonderful one.
Firstly, to the School Advisory Council for all their support in ensuring that our school stays financially viable. Particularly to Erica Carlson (SAC Chair), Melinda Carr (Treasurer) and Marie Bartlett (Secretary).
Secondly, to the P&F, under the leadership of their president Daina Sutherland, who was ably assisted by Kristy Sharp, Meg Gethin and Naomi Thomas. Thank you also to Jasmin Holmes, Liddy Atkinson, Marica Sayers and Emma Growden for their smooth running of the uniform shop, to Daina Sutherland for her coordination of the Scholastic Book Club for St Mary’s and Tosha Munro for taking on School Banking.
I wish to thank Fr Andrew for everything he brings to our school. His faith and spiritual leadership has been highly valued by the school, parish, wider community and myself.
At St Mary’s every child is valued and all the staff go out of their way to create classrooms and environments that are welcoming, safe and comforting for your children whilst also providing many challenging and stimulating learning experiences for them. Thank you to the staff for their tremendous and ongoing commitment throughout the year.
A particular thank you to Mrs Pauline Riethmuller, Mrs Zoe O’Malley, Mrs Lorraine Ryan and Ms Jasmin Holmes for all the behind the scenes work that they do to make St Mary’s run smoothly.
We wish Miss O’Callaghan, Mrs Kermode and Mrs Criddle all the very best of luck for the future and thank them for their contributions to our school during their time here. We wish Mrs Millington and Mrs McDonald a restful year of leave next year.
Last, but by no means least, a big thank you goes to our wonderful students. I would like to thank them for trying their best to reach their full potential, being children who are amazing, thoughtful, love coming to school and putting a smile on everyone’s faces every day and continually living by our school motto: “To do ordinary things extraordinarily well.”
I wish you all a happy and holy Christmas with your loved ones and relaxing and enjoyable holidays. Please stay safe and I look forward to seeing you all for the start of the new school year on Monday, 31 January 2022.
