St Mary's Bulletin

Term 4 - Week 9 (10 December, 2021)

Dear St Mary's School Community

PK Concert

It was wonderful to see so many of our Pre-Kindy families at school on Monday for the Pre-Kindy Concert – the children sang two songs (and did actions) for their families before ‘graduating’ and then enjoying a celebration together.  Thank you to Mrs Millar and Mrs Cooper for preparing the students so well!

Musical Recital

I was again reminded how talented the St Mary’s students are on Tuesday afternoon at the Music Recital. The students’ musical skills and talents were on display for their family and friends to see and hear. We definitely have some future stars in our midst! Thank you to Sam McDonald for teaching the students and providing them with the opportunity to learn a musical instrument.

Graduation Mass

Thank you to Mrs Pauline Riethmuller and Mrs Zoe O’Malley for preparing such a meaningful Graduation Mass for our Year Six students on Wednesday night.  I wish the graduating class of 2021 all the very best for their secondary school journey and for the future. I pray many blessings on them and hope that what they have learnt during their time at St Mary’s School will hold them in good stead.

Uniform 2022

This year, after parent consultation, a minor adjustment was made to our uniform guidelines.  As of next year, this adjustment will become part of our uniform.  Students are to wear black leather lace up sneakers with the academic uniform and with the sports uniform.  I have attached a picture to assist families when shopping over the school holidays, of what is appropriate footwear for next year.  Thank you in advance for your support of our school guidelines.

Opening dates and times for the Uniform Shop (prior to school returning) will be advertised on the St Mary’s P&F and School Facebook pages. Orders can be placed during the holidays on the Quickcliq website and picked up when the Uniform Shop opens prior to the start of Term One.

Term Planners

Please find attached the 2022 Term Planners for your information. While we don’t expect there to be many changes or additions – the unexpected does occasionally occur in schools – any changes to dates will be communicated to families through the usual channels.

ICAS

Congratulations to Joshua Smith who achieved a High Distinction in the ICAS Science Assessment.  This is a wonderful achievement!

Congratulations

Congratulations to the Last family (Addison - Kindy) on the arrival of their little sister and daughter Kendall.

Thank You

As the 2021 school year draws to a close, there are a number of people who I would like to thank for making this year such a wonderful one.

Firstly, to the School Advisory Council for all their support in ensuring that our school stays financially viable. Particularly to Erica Carlson (SAC Chair), Melinda Carr (Treasurer) and Marie Bartlett (Secretary).

Secondly, to the P&F, under the leadership of their president Daina Sutherland, who was ably assisted by Kristy Sharp, Meg Gethin and Naomi Thomas. Thank you also to Jasmin Holmes, Liddy Atkinson, Marica Sayers and Emma Growden for their smooth running of the uniform shop, to Daina Sutherland for her coordination of the Scholastic Book Club for St Mary’s and Tosha Munro for taking on School Banking.

I wish to thank Fr Andrew for everything he brings to our school. His faith and spiritual leadership has been highly valued by the school, parish, wider community and myself.

At St Mary’s every child is valued and all the staff go out of their way to create classrooms and environments that are welcoming, safe and comforting for your children whilst also providing many challenging and stimulating learning experiences for them. Thank you to the staff for their tremendous and ongoing commitment throughout the year.

A particular thank you to Mrs Pauline Riethmuller, Mrs Zoe O’Malley, Mrs Lorraine Ryan and Ms Jasmin Holmes for all the behind the scenes work that they do to make St Mary’s run smoothly.

We wish Miss O’Callaghan, Mrs Kermode and Mrs Criddle all the very best of luck for the future and thank them for their contributions to our school during their time here. We wish Mrs Millington and Mrs McDonald a restful year of leave next year.

Last, but by no means least, a big thank you goes to our wonderful students. I would like to thank them for trying their best to reach their full potential, being children who are amazing, thoughtful, love coming to school and putting a smile on everyone’s faces every day and continually living by our school motto: “To do ordinary things extraordinarily well.”

I wish you all a happy and holy Christmas with your loved ones and relaxing and enjoyable holidays. Please stay safe and I look forward to seeing you all for the start of the new school year on Monday, 31 January 2022.

God Bless and have a lovely weekend with your families.

Ms Adriana Coniglio

Principal

Let Us Pray

At the end of this school year we give thanks to God;

For all the teaching and learning that has taken place in our school, both in and out the classroom.

For the talents and gifts that have been shared and the challenges that have been faced;

For the burdens that have been lifted and the hurts that have been healed; For the respect and care that has been given, we give thanks for the friendships that have just begun and for those that have grown. For the faith that has been lived in our daily struggles, for the hope that has lifted our hearts on the dark days and for the love that has kept us going. We give thanks for the community that we are, And we ask you Lord – Bless our students as they prepare to move on: May your Spirit inspire them with confidence and calmness

Bless our families as we take our holidays, may our time together leave us with memories to cherish.

Pour out your love on us that we may return renewed and refreshed, to continue our journey together.

We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.

Amen
