Dear Parents and Carers,
It is easy to think that 2021 has been a year of loss, but as I sat down to write this newsletter, I reflected on some of the moments of joy at St Monica’s this year.
Our students have enjoyed excursions to the Maritime Museum and the Riverside Theatre, they have been to see the Stations of the Cross at Northmead Performing Arts High School, participated in our Athletics Carnival, the Winter Sleepout, Red and Yellow Day, FIAT Lifted Live Junior, Gala Days and our 2021 Book Week Celebrations. They have enjoyed Hawaii Holiday Friday and Fun Food Days.
During lockdown, there were still so many fun experiences for our students - Sport zooms with Miss Barakat, a virtual disco with Mr Levins, St Monica’s Feast Day and Fabulous Fun Fridays!
Our parent community has enjoyed Open Days during Catholic Schools Week, our inaugural “Look at what we’re learning” afternoon, Parent Numeracy Workshop, Parenting in a Pandemic Presentation and a Mothers’ Day morning tea.
Our staff have engaged in professional learning, including Reading Recovery (Miss Shaw), EMU (Mrs Stenning), R3 (Mr Baker), Rigorous PBL (Miss Anschau and Miss Barakat), Wired for Sound (Miss Chahine and Mrs D’Silva), Growing Great Leaders (SMNP Leadership Team) and numerous whole staff professional learning opportunities around Religious Education, English and Mathematics.
It’s no wonder we are all exhausted! I feel so blessed to lead this community and my hope for you and your families is that you have many moments of joy over Christmas and the New Year. May the peace of the birth of Christ come to you and your loved ones.
Stay safe and Merry Christmas,
Mrs Lisa Crampton
Principal
