Wingham Public School Bulletin

Term 4 Week 10

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

This will be the last Bulletin of 2021. The year has rushed on by, with many challenges along the way. The biggest challenges for us this year, have been delivering continuity of learning for all students, not having all the extra curricular activities that our students so look forward to and not being able to have parents onsite to participate in school events. Having said this, we are extremely proud of our staff and students because they have displayed amazing resilience and perseverance. Once again many activities were cancelled or held in a restricted format but the students, while disappointed, went on with their learning. Well done to all students and staff for a great job in 2021.

Thank you to our students and staff for their hard work and commitment to learning in 2021. We wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a positive and Happy New Year. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2022. Have a great holiday.

Rita Pittman

Principal

CERTIFICATE OF EXCELLENCE

At a recent Primary Principal’s meeting our school received a Certificate of Excellence from Lisa Muir, Executive Director School Performance and Rick Clissold, Director Educational Leadership. This is in recognition of exceptional leadership demonstrated across the entire school learning community.

MRS RASMUSSEN

We would like to congratulate Mrs Kylie Rasmussen who was successful in being appointed to Cundletown Public School as Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction. We are extremely sorry to see Mrs Rasmussen leave us at the end of this year and wish her the best of luck in her new position.

MR STEVENS

Congratulations to Mr Paul Stevens on being appointed as Assistant Principal here at our school. Mr Stevens begins this role in 2022 and is replacing Mr Darren Isaacs who has been appointed Principal of Comboyne Public School. We look forward to working with Mr Stevens as part of the school leadership team.

MRS TAYLOR

Congratulations also to Mrs Michelle Taylor who has been appointed as our permanent Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction. Mrs Taylor previously filled the role of Instructional Leader as part of the Early Action for Success initiative. We are very pleased to know that Mrs Taylor is now a permanent member of our school staff.

Due to Covid restrictions between cohorts we will be holding 3 sessions for each of the stages. These will be filmed and a link will be put on Skoolbag if parents wish to view them.

YEAR 6 FAREWELL

There was 100% attendance by all Year 6 students at the Year 6 Farewell last night.  Everyone enjoyed the entertaining speeches by William Murray, Halle Ward and Luke Russell.

The theme of the night was line dancing, which all students and staff enjoyed.  The students looked great and had fun throughout the night.

The 12 Year 5 leader nominees attended the dinner as well.  The food was delicious.  Special thanks to Mrs Greenaway and Mrs Lyon for preparing the food.  Thank you to Mrs Hawksford and Mrs Bird for helping serve the food.

Photos in the balloon photo booth were taken by Mrs Pittman and Mrs Pitt.  These will be uploaded onto Microsoft Teams.

Many thanks to Mrs Cattell, Mr Stevens and Mr Edwards for their organisation.

KINDER GRADUATION

On Monday Kindergarten celebrated the end of their first year of school.  They presented their performance of "Rumble in the Jungle".  The students put on an excellent performance.

A link of this performance will be sent out on Skoolbag.

CHILDREN'S UNIVERSITY

This year, the Children's University program ran a little differently than normal due to Covid-19 restrictions.  Hours for the year were due to be submitted to the University during mandatory isolation for Stage 2. Because of this, Year 3 - 5 students were awarded with a participation certificate. The hours they accrued this year will roll over and apply to next year's totals.  Students were given a package from the University to celebrate their participation in the program this year. We are looking forward to the program continuing in 2022.

We would like to thank Ave Chadwick from the University of Newcastle for her tireless work during the year.
