Wednesday 8 December, 2021 - Term 4 - Week 10 - Issue 40

Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

2022 Staffing

Towards the end of Term 4 each year, we endeavour to announce our class structure for the following year to provide some certainty to our students over the Christmas holidays. While we obviously try to be as accurate as possible, I’m sure you can understand that from time to time, some unavoidable changes need to be made at the last minute. Our proposed class structure for 2022 is as follows:

Kindergarten – Mrs Sharlene Dilley

Year 1 – Miss Ashley Palcer

Year 2 – Mrs Kathryn Raymer

Year 3 – Ms Kim Baker

Year 4 – Miss Jessie Salmon

Year 5 – Mr Luke Munn

Year 6 – Mr Zac Newton

Learning Support:

Mrs Linda Page

Ms Cathy Beal

Mrs Brett Baxter

RFF/Library/Executive Release:

Mrs Rose Darby (Tuesday, Wednesday)

Mrs Charmaine Flannery (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)

Mrs Lauren Moore (Tuesday, Wednesday)

I'm super-excited about the amazing team I will be working with next  year and I know our students are in for a great year ahead.

Presentation Assemblies

We look forward to recognising the achievements of our students at our presentation assemblies tomorrow, Thursday 9 December. Unfortunately, parents will not be able to attend in person due to current restrictions, however, the assemblies will be broadcast via Zoom and a link to join the zoom will be sent to parents via email today.

Parents of students who are receiving awards will also be notified today via a separate email.

Assembly times are as follows:

·         Stage 2 and 3 (Years 3 - 6) - Thursday 9 December at 9.45 – 11am (parents can join via zoom)

·         Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) - Thursday 9 December at 12.15 – 12.45pm (parents can join via zoom)

Graduation Assemblies

This Friday, we will host our Graduation assemblies for Kindergarten and Year 6 students. Parents of these students will be able to attend, assuming they are well. Parents will need to sign in using the QR Code and show their vaccination certificate. As the assembly will be outside, we will not be setting up a Zoom for this event. Please note, that Year 6 students who are receiving awards will be presented with those awards at tomorrow’s Presentation assembly.

The graduations will be held at the following times this Friday.

Year 6 – Friday 10 December at 10am.

Kindergarten - Friday 10 December at 2pm.

Student Reports

Our students will be receiving their Semester 2 Reports this Friday. Reporting guidelines have been amended this semester due to the extensive learning from home period, meaning the report template has been modified, much like Semester 1, 2020, which was also interrupted through Covid. If you would like to discuss your child’s report with their teacher, please make contact via the school office.

Have a great week,

Rod White

PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE

Last week, every student who completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge for 2021 received their certificate. Once again, we had very high student participation levels this year.

SRC Christmas Fundraiser

SRC Final Fundraiser!

Don’t forget that next Tuesday, 14 December (Week 11) the SRC are having their last fundraiser for the year.

Please come to school dressed in Christmas colours (red, green, white) or a Christmas style outfit (or mufti if you prefer).

The SRC have voted to donate all funds raised to the ‘Salvation Army Christmas Appeal’, which provides families in need with a Christmas meal or gifts to celebrate Christmas, which they wouldn’t be able to afford. You can find more information on their website https://www.salvationarmy.org.au/christmas/get-involved-this-christmas.

Please bring a gold coin donation for this very important cause.

A big thank you to St Georges Basin IGA who has kindly donated ice blocks to sell on the day (in a covid safe way) for 50 cents each.

We look forward to a fun and colourful day!

Library News

Overdue Library Books

A second reminder note was sent home on Monday (orange paper) to all students who still have overdue books. Please return these books to the library as soon as possible, so they can be back on the shelves for all students to enjoy next year.

Please let me know if you have misplaced any books.

A big thank you to the students who borrow and return their books each and every week!

P&C News

Tall Trees Before and After School Care

There are limited spaces beginning 2022. If you are interested in more days or have a new student starting next year, please email Tall Trees at talltreesoshc@gmail.com with your preferred requirements.

Canteen for 2022

We are hoping to reopen the canteen one or two days a week starting in 2022. The P&C are wondering if there are any parents interested in either co-coordinating or volunteering their time. If you are available to volunteer your time, one day a week or fortnight, or even once a term or once a year, it would be so greatly appreciated. If you think you could manage some time, please email the P&C on tomerongpandc@gmail.com with what days or weeks you would be able to volunteer.

Uniform Pool

If you happened to clean out your child’s wardrobe over the last few months and you are not sure what to do with the school uniforms your child has outgrown, you can donate them to our second-hand clothing pool. All donations are much appreciated and will ensure our stock levels stay high.

Thank you
