Dear Parents & Community Members,

These are trying times and once again I sincerely thank our school community for being so understanding of the changes to protocols and procedures forced upon us as a result of managing the dynamic COVID environment.  Fingers crossed we return to normality as soon as possible – and certainly before the beginning of next term.

I took great pleasure reading reports and viewing Kindergarten samples over the past couple of weeks.  I admire the efforts of both staff and students for the noticeably measurable gains made across all domains.  These quality documents provide sound indicators of the growth made and individual pointers for improvement.  Please ensure you read the reports and view the Kindergarten samples with your child; celebrating successes and discussing targets.

Elsewhere in the Newsletter you will see an article and photos of our Interschool winter sport teams.  The efforts of our senior students throughout the term and last week at the Lightning Carnival were exemplary.  Sincere thanks to all team coaches and parents who supported in any way.  Congratulations to our football team for bringing home the banner.

Finally, enjoy the next two weeks with your children – keep well and be safe.

Lightning Carnival

What a fabulous day last Thursday was!

The sun was shining, our toes were frozen but we all had smiles on our faces giving it our best in our respective sports.

 Results include:

  • Glengarry came 6th across all codes in the home and away season.
  • At our lightning carnival our Footballers took out the B division pennant.

All students showed great sportsmanship and should be commended for their efforts.

Health and Hygiene

Is your child feeling unwell?

Please do not send your child to school if they are at all unwell.

Any child who demonstrates or complains of being unwell will be removed from the class, isolated and parents/carers contacted.

Our school is well stocked with hand sanitiser. This has been provided to all work areas (including classrooms) and children are expected to “sanitise out / sanitise in” at all times. Cleaning of hands following toilet use is also instructed.

BUZ Rangers

At Glengarry we run a program called BUZ Rangers which focuses on making the playground a fairer and safer place for children.  The BUZ Rangers are year 5 and 6 students who help younger students make friends, resolve friendship conflicts, express feelings, and develop communication skills.  The Rangers also act as positive role models and engage children in games and activities.

The BUZ Rangers program provides upper primary students with an opportunity to develop leadership and peer mediation skills.  Through weekly meetings with the chaplain and through implementation of skills on the playground one day per week, the Rangers build compassion and empathy, develop self-confidence, and strengthen personal relationship, communication, and problem-solving skills.
