Holy Trinity Primary Granville

Term 4 Week 2 - 15th October 2021

From the Leadership Team

Philip Mahony | Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Next Monday we welcome back Kindergarten and Year one students to Face to Face Learning. Years 2 to 6 have their last week of Remote Learning before returning to school on Monday 25th October. It will be great to have the students back in the classrooms and teaching Face to Face. When the students return to face to face learning the Remote Learning will stop. Our theme for the students return is "You Belong Here".

Holy Trinity has a COVID Safe Plan and will be following the "Return to School Roadmap" from Catholic Schools NSW. Unfortunately parents are not permitted on site unless for essential business in the office. Parents need to log in with the QR code and wear a mask if they must visit the office.  Only fully vaccinated visitors are permitted in the school for essential business. Primary school aged children are encouraged to wear masks, but it is not mandatory and masks need to be supplied by the families.

The teachers will be wearing masks and constantly cleaning and sanitising during the day. It would be great if parents could talk to their children about the need for the teachers to be wearing masks and that the children will only be allowed to play with their classmates in the playground. The students return in their summer uniform.

If your child/ren contracted COVID 19, we will need to sight the 'Medical Clearance' before the children can return to school.

The school canteen will be open from next Monday. To reduce congestion around the canteen, we encourage the ordering of recess and lunch and these will be collected from canteen and delivered to the students.

The students who have borrowed computers from school need to return them back to school on their first day back and remember to bring the charger.

An update regarding the school leadership for 2022. As Principal, I will be taking Long Service Leave for term 1 and 2 next year. The recruitment process for the position of Acting Principal for Holy Trinity, Granville will begin immediately by CEDP. This process will take a couple of weeks and the community will be kept informed of the progress.

Warm regards,

Phil Mahony

Jason Fisher | Assistant Principal

Returning to school

As announced by the NSW government the children will be returning to school over the next two weeks. Kindergarten and Year 1 will return to school next Monday (October 18). The rest of the school - Year 2 - Year 6 return on Monday October 25. All the teachers are very excited to see you all again.

To support the children returning to school parents can help by;

* Returning to established sleeping routines for school - set a regular bedtime and wake up at the regular time for school.

* Eat a snack at 11.00am (which is recess time at school).

* Have lunch at 1.30pm (which is lunch time at school).

* Talk about returning to school in a positive way.

* Remind the children that there are school routines and the children have to follow teacher instructions.

* Let the children know that there may be slight changes due to Covid eg teachers will be wearing masks, children will be staying in their cohort, The children will be moving straight to class in the morning to separate cohorts etc

* Remind the children that if they are unsure about anything the teachers will support them.

* When children return to school there will not be any expectation that they need to complete all the online work. We will be starting fresh.

All the staff at Holy Trinity would like to acknowledge the efforts of the parents and carers. It has been a difficult time and you have tried your best to support the children. Thank you for your hard work.

Religious Education News | Mark Galea

Friday Morning Liturgies: We offer heartfelt thanks to the families who have been able to join us during our Friday morning liturgies each week. During lockdown it has been one way we can connect as a school and parish community. It has been wonderful to be able to practice our faith even during these times. Seeing parents and siblings join us, along with Father Andrew each week, reminds us of the wonderful community we are a part of.

Welcome Back - You Belong Here: It is wonderful that the students will be returning to school over the next two weeks. For the majority it will be a celebration of returning to normalcy and reconnecting with friends and the community. Others may need some help readjusting to school life. If you think your child needs assistance, please contact your child's teacher.

Prayer for these times

Dear Lord,

At this time of pandemic,

Let us foster respect and solidarity with others, especially those who are weak or poor.

Let us remain calm and ignore unsubstantiated rumours.

Let us take advantage of living together as a family.

Let us attend to moments of prayer.

Let us cultivate responsibility, patience and hope.

Amen.

Prayer adapted from a radio message from Rodolfo Valenzuela Núñez, Bishop of La Verapaz, Guatemala

Supporting Families' Health and Wellbeing

Keeping active and healthy is important for our physical and mental wellbeing, particularly at this time when we are required to stay at home.To support the health and wellbeing of staff and families, Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) has developed a toolkit of "Healthy@Home" social media tiles and messages.

The Healthy@Home tiles provide families with practical tips and resources for:

  • being active
  • eating well
  • staying connected
  • supporting mental wellbeing.

There are a range of tiles you can choose to download including some which have been translated into other languages. We hope the practical tips and information are helpful for your families at this time.

The information is housed on the WSLHD Covid 19 Community Resourses for Western Sydney web page, where you'll find a lot of local COVID-19 related information (linked to NSW Govt sites).

Please contact WSLHD-MunchAndMove@health.nsw.gov.au if you have any questions about the toolkit.
