St Mary's Bulletin

Term 4 - Week 1 (15 October, 2021)

Dear St Mary's School Community

Value in Focus: Respect

We value others, their property, the environment and ourselves.

Welcome Back

Welcome Back to Term Four!  It has been lovely to have everyone back full of excitement for what the new term will bring!  All the  children  look smart in their summer uniform - thanks parents!

Welcome

We welcome the Olsten/Laidlow family to St Mary's School.  Maisie has joined us in Pre-Kindy.

Reconciliation

Our Year Three students have begun their preparation to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time.  A Parent Information session was held yesterday afternoon.  We keep the students, their families, Miss Walsh, Mrs O’Malley and Father Andrew in our prayers.

Year Two - Reading at Mass

Year 2 Reading at Mass has changed to the 31st October, as Father Andrew is only saying Mass in Kellerberrin on the 24th  October.

Children's Liturgy has also been moved to the following weekend- 7th November. The Term Planner has been updated on Skoolbag, please adjust your calendars accordingly.

T/20 Blast Cricket Competition

The Year 3-6 students had a wonderful day at the T/20 Blast Cricket Competition against Merredin College, at the College.  Thank you to the Miss Walsh, Mrs McDonald, Mrs Riethmuller and Mrs Criddle and to parent helpers David Thompson and Marie Bartlett.  Despite the warm weather, the St Mary's students participated with enthusiasm and displayed sportsmanship at all times.  Congratulations to the St Mary's team who won the competition!

Container Deposit Scheme

Please be reminded that the bins for the Containers for Change are now located behind the school (Year Six classroom wall).  The bins are clearly labelled - money raised from these bins supports St Mary's School.

St Mary's School Fair

I look forward to welcoming everyone to the St Mary’s School Fair tomorrow.  Thank you to everyone that has contributed to the Fair in any way – your energy, commitment and enthusiasm for our school is much appreciated.  The school today was a hive of activity as last minute organisation and initial setting up occurred.  The weather tomorrow promises to be amazing – so bring your friends and families along to support the P&F and our school.

Values Mural

You may have noticed that part of the outer wall of the Specialist Room looks a little different.  This mural has been designed with input from our Year 3/4 Class when they worked with Chloe Flockart in Term Two.  Thank you to Jess Spring for bringing the mural to life.  All students will have a chance to contribute to painting the mural with their families at the Fair.

Homework Guidelines

Homework is a key element for building the relationship between home and school.  The staff recently reviewed what is in place at St Mary’s School and came up with some guidelines for all the relevant stakeholders.  This was recently endorsed by the School Advisory Council.  I have attached it for your information.  The guidelines will now go into both the staff and parent handbooks for 2022 and onwards.

Homework Guidelines document attached.

Pastoral Care

Please keep the Millington family in your prayers – Glenn Millington recently underwent a medical procedure and is recovering at home.  Mrs Millington will be on leave for the next few weeks to be with Glenn.

God Bless and have a lovely weekend with your families,

Ms Adriana Coniglio

Principal

Let Us Pray

This day, Father, may my eyes be opened to see the beauty in all that is ordinary – yet special – around me.

May the glory of all that you have made remind me of your presence and lead me closer to you.

Amen.
