Unfortunately, we have doubled our unauthorised absences in a very short period of time and are now sitting on 145 from 77 last reporting period.  This is quite disappointing and I urge you to please let us know why your child was absent from school. This period does not include the recent Lockdown.  If you receive a letter asking you to provide an explanation for certain dates, please complete this and return it as soon as you can so we can update our system.  Remember it is very easy to reply to a text message when your child is sick and it’s done.  In a more detailed analysis:

K   – from 8 up to 14 students

P/P  – from 6 up to 15

Yr 1 – from 13 up to 17

Yr 2 - from 8 up to 25

Yr 3 – from 13 up to 29 students

Yr 4 – from 2 up to 9

Yr 5 – from 10 up to 19

Yr 6 – from 9 up to 17

Look at the Year 4 Parents still in single digits. Still in single digits. Well done and thank you so much.  I’m not sure why we have had a jump in unexplained absences but I hope this information gets you to ring and let us know what’s happening.

Students, you can remind your parents to give you a note when you return to school or to contact the school when you are away.

Parents, we really need to work hard at this target, just like your children do within their class. Go Rawlinson parents, Go!!  I know you can do it.  Let’s help each other continue to make this the best school in the area.

Happy Holidays

Have a wonderful break everyone.  Let’s hope this lockdown doesn’t last too long and we can return to as normal as possible holiday adventures.  Please stay safe, wear your helmet while riding scooters, bikes, skateboards etc, hold someone’s hand crossing the road if you are under 10 years, be safe at home and most of all play, play, play.  The least amount of time should be spent on computers, iPads and phones.  Run, play, have picnics in your backyard, have fun with friends and family and we will see you all back on TUESDAY 20TH JULY.

STUDENT COUNCIL

QUIZ NIGHT

The student councillors of Rawlinson held their first Fundraising Quiz Night last Friday and what an amazing night was had by all!

The student councillors were hopeful that they would raise close to their target of $1000, to implement their Buddy Bench Program and make a small donation to Food Bank WA.  We had such a successful night that ticket sales alone, have ensured  we reached our Fundraising target.  Final numbers and donations are still being counted, we will ensure to share those details once all donations have come through.

A big thank you to our Parent Community and local business sponsors, who have supported the student councillors in their vision.  Thank you also to the Rawlinson P&C, who supported us with food sales on the night.

As you would be aware, the student councillors are working closely with Food Bank WA, to understand more about food insecurity.  The student councillors have decide to host Food Bins in our school and will be looking to organise a Food Drive next term.  Further details to come, so watch this space.

In the meanwhile, the Food Bins are located outside admin and any canned donations, such as tuna, beans, vegetables, tomatoes or packaged items like nappies, hygiene products, pastas and rice are being accepted.  As we are heading into school break, we just ask that any donations come from next term onwards.

Once again, thank you for all your support.
