Term 2 Week 10 - 24 June 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

Semester One Reports and Parent/Teacher Interviews

Thank you to our parents and carers who made the time to come up to school this week to discuss your child’s progress with their class teacher. It is so important that we have a team approach when looking at how to support our students in achieving progress in their learning. If you still wish to discuss any aspect of your child’s learning with the class teacher please contact the school early next term so that a mutually convenient time can be arranged.

A big thank you to our wonderful class teachers and support staff who spent many hours writing reports, preparing for interviews and spending time before and after school in speaking with individual parents to share information.

Farewell to Staff Members

We are sad to say farewell to two staff members at the end of this week. Mrs Capra our Literacy Instructional Leader for K-2 will be leaving us and starting a new role at Kellyville Ridge Public School commencing Term 3. We wish Mrs Capra all the very best at her new school.

We also say goodbye to Mrs Talabani. Mrs Talabani has been working in various roles at CVPS and is currently working in the Preschool and Kinder support. We wish her all the best in her new role at Sarah Redfern Public School in Term 3.

Attendance

We will be participating in a Pioneering Trial around attendance in Term 4. This will involve sending SMS messages when your child is absent. Before we start the trial, we would like to know how we’re going in engaging parents and carers with your children’s learning. Please take three minutes to complete this short survey: bit.ly/CanleyVale . Thank you for your assistance.

Security and Work on Grounds over the Holidays

We do have some contractors working at the school over the holidays on a few days. If you are passing by and do notice unusual activity on the school grounds, other than contractors, please contact School Security on 1300 880 021 to report.

Enjoy your Holidays and Stay Safe

Term 2 has just about come to an end. It has been a very busy term and I wish everyone an enjoyable and relaxing two week break ahead. For the next two weeks our students and staff will be enjoying the winter vacation away from school. Students will return for Term 3 on Tuesday 13 July.

Dear Parents,

What a busy term we have had again.

This term we had the Living Eggs program visit our preschool for the second time. During this experience the children watched chicks hatch out of their egg and begin walking, eating and playing with the other chicks. Many of the children were very brave and held a chick whilst other children cautiously pet the chick.

We had Nurse Wayne come and talk to the children about keeping our mouth and teeth healthy. There was a lot of learning and discussion about healthy foods and drink, how to keep our teeth healthy and who we should visit to check our teeth.

We also had Police Officer Allen visit to talk to the children about stranger awareness and the role of the police to keep us all safe. The children even had the opportunity to dress in some police gear!

Recently, we had the Feature Creature show visit and introduce many Australian reptiles, amphibians and insects. The children learnt about what these animals looked like, ate and even where they could be found. Many of the children were so brave to touch, feel and hold many of these animals.

Jenny and Kevin from Feature Creatures also left an insect enclosure that housed Giant Prickly Stick Insects and Stick Insects. The children had the opportunity to feed, water and hold these insects.

We hope you enjoyed receiving many of the photos from these incursions through Seesaw. If you have not yet downloaded the Seesaw app to receive photos of your child and the experiences they enjoy, please speak to your child's teacher.

Preschool Yellow and Preschool Green have had the opportunity to visit the K-6 school library. During this experience the children sat in the library to listen to a story and have the chance to look at their own book. These library visits for all of the groups will continue into semester two.

Finally, thank you to all of the parents that took the time to attend the Preschool Parent-Teacher Interviews. This was such a wonderful opportunity to share information about your child, their learning and to set future goals.

Please remember to return the Parent-Teacher Interview survey you recently received. Your feedback will help us understand what works well and how we can make future improvements to the Parent Teacher Interview process.
