School Closure and Remote Learning

Yesterday the Premier announced that Victoria would enter lockdown from 11.59 pm Thursday to 11.59 pm on Tuesday 20 July.

All Catholic schools in Victoria will transition to remote and flexible learning during this period.

As notified Friday 16th ( today) was a  School Closure/Preparation Day

Monday 19th July, Tuesday 20th July Remote Learning

St Timothy's can continue to provide onsite supervision ONLY for students in the following categories:

  • Children whose parents/carers are authorised workers who cannot work from home, work for an essential provider and no other supervision arrangements can be made.
  • Children experiencing vulnerability, including those residing in out-of-home care deemed vulnerable by a government agency, funded family or family violence service, and assessed as requiring education and care outside the family home identified by a school as vulnerable, including via referral from a government agency, funded family or family violence service, homeless or youth justice service, or mental health or other health service.

The five reasons to leave home are also back in place. That means you can only leave home:

to get the food and supplies you need for exercise of up to two hours and no more than 5 km from home for care or care giving for work or education if you can’t do them from home to get vaccinated at the nearest possible location. We will provide further information when we receive it from the Victorian Government.

If you require your child to be onsite on Monday & Tuesday and you meet the criteria, please contact Anne Maree ajones@sttims.catholic.edu.au by Friday 16th July.

Work Packs for Remote Learning will be available for pick up TODAY (Friday16th ) from 12:30 pm and must be collected by 3 pm.

Please adhere to social distancing and mask regulations.

Thank you for your support in keeping our community safe.

Confirmation

In light of this current lockdown, the Confirmation Parent/Child Workshop  evening that was scheduled for next Thursday 22nd July  is cancelled.

We will need to await Government regulations for numbers permitted at church services to confirm whether we can celebrate the Sacrament as planned on Thursday 29th July.

I am expecting that even if we are permitted to go ahead, the numbers of guests allowed will be seriously slashed to meet number restrictions. It could be as small as child and parents.

Unfortunately, this may be late notification as we need to wait for government restrictions.

Legally Blonde

Unfortunately  the Year 3, 4 &5 visit to see Legally Blonde, performed by Emmaus College has been postponed.

We look forward to new of the rescheduled dates.

Bridget Hall

On Monday and Tuesday, Jessi Wright will be assisting the Year 3,4 &5 children with their school work. Unfortunately on Monday, Miss Hall was unwell and ended up in hospital with emergency surgery, She has had her gall bladder removed. Bridget will be absent for at least the next two weeks. In the light of the significant challenges for an Emergency Teacher to take over Remote Learning, Jessi has planned with Year 3, 4 & 5 teachers and will run Zoom sessions for  classes next week and explain, teach  and monitor both 5/6 and 3,4&5 grades online. Jessi, Bridget and Aria regularly plan together, we believe the children will feel more comfortable with someone they know, and who understands/knows them.

Face Masks

It is compulsory for all adults (and children over 12 but not primary students) to wear a mask on school property whilst inside and outside school buildings.  We thank you for your support in following these regulations. Regulations change regularly so please refer back to Skoolbag notifications and newsletters to confirm latest regulations. Thank you

QR CODE LOG IN

New COVID regulations ...we MUST have parents, visitors, volunteers  tradesman and staff who come into school building log in via St Timothy's Registered QR code . These are situated at the front office. We appreciate your support in meeting these regulations.

Junior Science

This term junior school students are investigating the Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics involved in the utensils and gadgets we use in our daily lives. What is a ‘utensil’ and what is a ‘gadget’?

If you have any essential gadgets or kitchen utensils we would appreciate photos or donations or the loan of kitchen items to add to our collection.

We will try to identify the gadget or utensils and their variety of different uses and design our own ‘I can’t live without’ gadget.
