Acknowledgement of Country

Dear Parents & Community Members,

Welcome to Term Three – hopefully in and around COVID related restrictions and the wettest July in many years, there was some quality family time.  I am pleased to say the new term has commenced well with children back into routines very quickly.  This term is traditionally a busy one with a significant focus on our athletics events, although as you will note from the Term Planner included with this Newsletter, there are a number of other events on also.

This Friday is “P&C Day” and a celebration of the support provided by this wonderful group. Hopefully you have been enjoying the photos being distributed to recognise how valuable this organisation has been to our school.  Although this day is an acknowledgement of the work of these parents and community members over the years; in typical form, the children will be the ones to benefit via a treat at recess time tomorrow.  Please thank a current member of our P&C during the week.

Finally, I had the pleasure of meeting a number of our 2022 Kindergarten families yesterday.  Unfortunately, this meeting was postponed from last term due to restrictions but proved to be a wonderful opportunity to talk to another cohort of Glengarrians.

Respect

Did you know that there is a rule so important that it is called the Golden Rule?  It says, “Treat others the way you want to be treated.”  Following the Golden Rule means being respectful and kind to other people even when their ideas, culture, or background differ from your own.

Respect involves honouring and caring for others and for yourself.  Respectful people are courteous and gracious in their words and actions.  They are also careful with other people’s belongings, time, and space.

Imagine how great the world would be if everyone followed this rule and showed respect to others.  We can start by practicing the Golden Rule here at Glengarry Primary, in our families, and in our community.
